Something I've always liked is the concept of a bridge with padlocks to express love. I think it's a simple but deeply meaningful idea, and coming across one of these on my last trip to Córdoba was a great surprise. On our second day of traveling with my dad, the forecast was threatening rain, but of course, that wasn't going to stop us from going out for a walk. And I'm glad I did, because that's when we came across this place ❤️.

Our trip had begun on a Saturday night, traveling more than 10 hours from Buenos Aires to Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, in the province of Córdoba. On our first day, we arrived on Sunday morning and explored the small town a bit, but we were a little tired so we postponed everything until Monday. When we woke up, the weather wasn't the best, and some rain was forecast, but neither of us was willing to waste another minute of our trip. With waterproof gear in tow, we decided to leave anyway, hoping the rain wouldn't catch us so early.

Fortunately, in the days leading up to the trip, my past self had taken the trouble to find a good place to stay that met the criteria of being nice, attractive, and cheap. For only about $30 a night, we stayed in an apartment facing the Santa Rosa River, very close to the Puente Colgante Spa. This was the only thing I knew about this place, since I hadn't seen any photos of the surrounding area. And once, while exploring the neighborhood, there was literally a suspension bridge in it.

In the summer, this area of Córdoba should be packed with tourists, but in the fall of April, there was hardly anyone on the streets. That was a good thing because we had the whole place to ourselves and explored it thoroughly. The Puente Colgante (Hanging Bridge) was a pedestrian bridge across the river, and several lovers had taken it upon themselves to decorate it with padlocks. It looked very pretty, and from up there, the view of the river and the mountains was gorgeous. I found the whole idea of making a promise of love in that place very romantic. Will I ever be able to put my own padlock on someone? At least not on that trip with my dad 😅.

I know that these types of bridges with padlocks are found in countless places around the world. In fact, this isn't the first one I've seen throughout all my travels. For example, in El Bolsón, in Río Negro, the bridge in the main square was also full of padlocks. Even in Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires, on the Puente de la Mujer, you could see some padlocks a while back. However, there are places where the authorities take the trouble to remove them, because it can happen that so many lovers want to do this that they manage to add significant weight to the bridge. I suppose carving a tree ends up being a little less damaging to the architecture.

My dad and I are both avid hikers, and this was just the beginning of a great walk we took that day. I liked the location I chose to base ourselves on this trip, as we were literally across the river, near this pretty bridge, and just a few meters from the center of the small town of Santa Rosa. And luckily, there were no signs of rain yet: we're always lucky with good weather on our vacations together, and that day was no exception ❤️.

Algo que me gusta desde siempre es el concepto de puente con candados para expresar amor. Me parece una propuesta simple pero con un gran significado, y encontrarme con uno de estos en mi último viaje a Córdoba fue una gran sorpresa. En nuestro segundo día de viaje junto con mi papá, el pronóstico estaba amenazante de lluvias, pero por supuesto que eso no iba a impedir que saliéramos a dar una vuelta. Y me alegra haberlo hecho, porque fue entonces cuando nos cruzamos con este lugar ❤️.---

Afortunadamente, en los días previos al paseo, mi yo del pasado se había tomado el trabajo de encontrar un buen alojamiento que cumpliera con las condiciones de ser bueno, bonito y barato. Por solo unos $30 la noche, estuvimos en un departamento frente al Río Santa Rosa, muy cerca del Balneario Puente Colgante. Esto era lo único que yo sabía sobre este lugar, ya que no había visto ninguna foto de los alrededores. Y una vez recorriendo el barrio, literalmente había un puente colgante en él.---

En verano, esta zona de Córdoba debe estar llena de turistas, pero para el otoño de abril que era, no había casi nadie en las calles. Eso era bueno porque tuvimos todo el lugar para nosotros y visitarlo con detenimiento. El Puente Colgante era un puente peatonal para cruzar el río, y varios enamorados se habían encargado de adornarlos con candados. Se veía muy lindo, y desde ahí arriba, la vista del río y las montañas era hermosa. Me pareció muy romántico todo el hecho de hacer una promesa de amor en ese lugar. ¿Algún día podré poner mi propio candado con alguien? Al menos en ese viaje con mi papá, no 😅.---

Sé que este tipo de puentes con candados se encuentran en infinidad de lugares en el mundo. De hecho, este no es el primero que veo a lo largo de todos los viajes que hice. Por ejemplo, en El Bolsón, en Río Negro, el puente de la plaza principal también estaba lleno de candados. Incluso en Puerto Madero en Buenos Aires, en el Puente de la Mujer se podían ver algunos candados hace un tiempo. Sin embargo, hay lugares en el que las autoridades se toman el trabajo de sacarlos, porque puede ocurrir que sean tantos los enamorados que quieren hacer esto que logran añadir un peso signficativo al puente. Supongo que tallar un árbol termina siendo un poco menos perjudicial para la arquitectura.---

Mi papá y yo somos dos grandes caminantes, y este fue a penas el inicio de un gran paseo que hicimos ese día. Me gustó la ubicación que elegí para hacer base en este viaje, ya que estabamos literalmente enfrente del río, cerca de este lindo puente y solo a algunos metros del centro de la pequeña ciudad de Santa Rosa. Y por suerte, todavía no había señales de la lluvia: siempre tenemos suerte con el buen clima en nuestras vacaciones conjuntas, y ese día no estaba siendo la excepción ❤️.---
