Another #Beersaturday in the books. This week I'll be doing a quick review on three beers; a cream ale, a German Style Pilsner, and a golden Lager. Without further ado, let's check them out!
Killarney Cream Ale

I might have had this one before, maybe last year, but I'm not exactly sure. The can looks familiar to me but im going to review it anyway.
Marketing: Beautifully designed can with a colorful design. Navy blue ombre turning to purple, pink and then orange to mimick a sunset. Lighthouse on the rocks next to the water image.
A blurb on the back of the can tells a little story about the name of the beer and/or brewery. A great design overall in my opinion.
Color: The beer poured a beautiful burnt orange color with a cream colored head. There was a slight orange tint to the foam that looked very appealing and appetizing. Like a light creamsicle color.
Nose: Very interesting aroma. Hard to place and I don't even know how to describe it. Pleasant and intriguing. I want to say burnt candy but that's not quite right. I think I'm detecting some bread dough notes in the background.
I read the back of the can after nose diving into this and saw that the beer uses honey as an ingredient so maybe that is where the unique aroma is coming from?? It doesn't smell like honey per se, but sometimes honey does have an odd or hard to place smell about it.
Taste: Mildly sweet and mildly bitter in equal parts. Well balanced. Notes of fruit - maybe plum. Notes of bitter orange peel as well.
Texture: Light bubbles and a creamy texture as the style alludes to.
Impression: Great beer overall. Refreshing, intriguing and something a little different about it. I enjoyed it and would buy it again.
Captain's Log Lager
Brewery: Camerons Brewing Co Origin: Oakville ON Canada Style: Golden Lager Abv: 5.0% IBU: 15 SRM: Unknown
I drank this beer before and liked it at the time. This time I found it to be a little stale so perhaps the beer had spent a little too much time on the shelf. It had notes of pear and apple. Not an amazing drinking experience this time around but okay.
Little Thrills
Brewery: Grain and Grit Brewery Origin: Hamilton ON Canada Style: German Style Pilsner Abv: 4.8 % IBU: Unknown SRM: Unknown
This was the first time that I've tried anything from the Grain and Grit Brewery. I drank the beer at my in laws place so I wasn't able to do a proper deep dive into the drinking experience but I did take note on a few things while drinking it.
The can was a simple design of a skull and skateboard, clearly a hat tip to the name - Little Thrills. I liked the clean look of the design.
This beer was very hoppy and reminded me of a standard pale ale more than a Pilsner. Nonetheless it was fresh and crisp tasting and very flavorful. It was highly carbonated and actually exploded a little when I opened it. It also poured with an extra amount of foam. Overall it was an enjoyable beer and I would try other brews from the brewery.
