When we visited the Botanical Garden located in Baguio City for the bonsai exhibit, we spent some time at Cafe de Fleur because the exhibit was not yet open that time. Saved by the cafe.
They have several choices written on the board outside the cafe and we thought of going for Vanilla and Hazelnut flavored coffee.
This is just one of the entrances to the cafe and another on the other side.
A closer look of their menu. I thought I have taken a photo of the menu inside but I guess I didn't for there was no photo of it as I was editing these photos.
Unluckily for us there were no available flavored coffee that time. They have just opened up so they have only brewed coffee available which is still good enough for us.
Not much can be seen on the inside. The interesting parts are outside the cafe of course for this was inside the botanical garden. There are two tables inside but it is more preferable to stay outside for it feels cramped inside. There are boxes of stuff by the doors and there is not enough room to move around once the seats inside are filled.
I do like the tables outside and the counter tops. It matches the wood and glass materials used to build the cafe.
While waiting for our coffee, I checked out their cakes and other pastries.
They have the basic ones like strawberry cake, ube cake, choco cake, macaroon, cookies, crinkles, etc. However, I am not yet in the mood that time for something sweet although it was very tempting.
Good thing they have banana-oatmeal bread and that is what we ordered in addition to the coffee.
It's self-service and pay as your order kind of cafe. Before I knew it, our orders are ready.
They only have one size of coffee available which is fine. I found my coffee to be not as hot as I want it to be. I think my senses are not like everyone else. My partner said it was too hot but for me it was only warm.
We chose to sit outside on the verandah so that we can keep an eye of the bonsai exhibit once it opened.
I took several photos more before finally settling down and savoring our coffee and bread.
This is how it looks like on the rooftop.
The one on the left was taken on the rooftop while the one on the right was taken at our table below.
Look how dark the coffee is. It is blacker than the table. This looks like a black hole in some universe.
The coffee lacks that bitterness that I like and the aroma is not that strong. I couldn't taste anything else from the coffee like that citrusy taste that I get from some of the coffees that I have tried. Maybe it was just prepared differently. Whenever I brew coffee, I like to put more ground coffee in my pot so I can taste that bitterness and any other flavors that can come with it.
The bread is not that sweet. I like that it is topped with a lot of ingredients like peanuts, raisins, walnuts, oats and sesame seeds. It is packed and a bit moist in some parts. That is already a meal by itself. So good.
It was a good coffee time at Cafe de Fleur - Botanical Garden, Baguio City for we get to enjoy the garden and the fresh morning air and freshness of the environment. I'll surely try their other cakes and flavored coffee next time.
