On a crisp winter morning, I decided to take the car for a much-needed run.
My mom was only too keen to get out of the house for a change of scenery and to enjoy the ride with me.
There’s something comforting about a quiet drive in the early hours — just the hum of the engine, a warm heater, and the world slowly waking up outside. Despite the cold air, the drive was surprisingly enjoyable, and it felt good to feel the warmth of the sun albeit through the windows of the car.
My destination? Paul's at Canal Walk — a charming French-style café that always manages to hit the spot. The warm glow from the windows as I approached was inviting, and stepping inside felt like entering a little Parisian haven. The smell of freshly baked pastries and ground coffee was enough to shake off the morning chill.
Very enjoyable cappuccino at Paul's
We ordered the basic breakfast: 2 poached eggs with bacon and tomato, and we enjoyed a rich *cappuccino with it. Everything was fresh, flavourful, and served with care.
What more could you ask for
My mom looking forward to the breakfast | Your's truly also waiting in anticipation |

The atmosphere was calm, with soft music playing in the background and the clink of cutlery creating a gentle rhythm. It felt like time slowed down — just enough to fully enjoy each bite and sip.
What made the experience even better was the friendliness of the staff. We had a great waiter serving us who was attentive without being overbearing, and he created a sense of ease that made the whole visit feel special.
Driving home, I kept the heater on and the music low, feeling satisfied and grateful. It wasn’t a big event or a special occasion, just a simple morning done right — a warm car ride, a delicious breakfast, and a moment of peace. Sometimes, those are the best memories.
It was Father's Day and the shopping centre was surprisingly quiet.
If you’re looking for a place to escape the cold and treat yourself, I highly recommend a visit to Paul’s at Canal Walk. It’s a small delight that leaves a lasting impression.
