Beautiful Cape Dutch Buildings
Nederburg Estate’s origins trace back to 1791, when German settler Philippus Wolvaart purchased 49 ha in Paarl, naming it “Nederburgh” after VOC commissioner Sebastian Cornelis Nederburgh. By 1800 he completed the elegant Cape Dutch manor house, which remains a national monument Ownership passed through several families, enduring challenges like phylloxera in the 1890s until Johann Georg Graue acquired and revitalized the farm in 1937. He was a pioneer of cold‑fermentation and modern viticulture, transforming Nederburg into South Africa’s top award‑winning estate Success continued under winemaker Günter Brözel from 1956 onwards. Today, Nederburg balances historic charm with cutting‑edge winemaking.

My sister enjoying the sunshine
We enjoyed a delicious cappuccino here and my mom had an apple tart served with cinnamon ice-cream - a nice touch.
We took a stroll around the estate and it was peaceful and most importantly the sun was shining so we really enjoyed the warmth of the day after three overcast days it was a blessing.

Earlier in the day we had lunch at Laborie Wine Estate - trying out the third restaurant there - The Stoep. I had a chicken burger and Eden and my mom had hake and chips. Probably our most disappointing meal so far in the wine estates - but then the scenery and the atmosphere definitely make up for the lack of good food.![]
All in all we spent a lovely day at the farms. It was good bonding time.
