English Version
Greetings to everyone who inhabits this green community. Once again, I stop by to share a bit of my writing with you. In my previous post, inspired by the Second Edition of La Forja Fractal, to which our friend @cumanauta invited us, I mentioned that I had written two versions of a story. After finishing the first, I felt compelled to rewrite it, switching the roles of the protagonists. With that second version (you can read it 👉 [here](https://peakd.com/hive-164923/@leopard0/un-paraguas-para-dos-2da-convocatoria-de-la-forja-fractal-esen)) I entered the contest, as I felt it invited the reader’s imagination more deeply through its open-ended conclusion. Still, it didn’t seem fair to leave the first version forgotten among my drafts. After all, it’s already written. So today I’m sharing that original version, where the story takes a more romantic and melancholic path. In this one, the rain isn’t just a backdrop—it plays a leading role, as the challenge guidelines requested. I’d love to hear your thoughts. You may not agree with my choice to submit the second version to La Forja Fractal. Feel free to let me know what you think. Always grateful for the time you take to visit my blog. ### An Umbrella for Two --- It had been pouring over the city for hours. Rain ran through the streets like rivers. A bus approached the stop, raising great tongues of water on both sides. As it came to a halt, through the rear door, a red umbrella appeared first, followed by the slender figure of a woman who ran, seeking shelter beneath the roof of the station. Alone, he had settled into one of the benches to wait. He was glad to have company. A fleeting exchange of glances sent a shiver through his chest. -It won’t let up - he said, trying to start a conversation. She pretended not to hear. -Looks like my route won’t come in this weather - he tried again. She simply looked at him and shrugged. -I guess I’ll have to get wet and walk to the avenue to catch a taxi - he murmured, masking his true intention, as the woman began to walk away from the stop. -Come with me - she invited, waiting under the umbrella. - I'm going home the same way. He didn’t hesitate. On many other rainy nights, as he waited for his route at the stop, he held onto the hope that, beneath a red umbrella, the woman who filled his dreams would appear, floating toward him.
