Do you like history, but don't have the time or patience to delve into the subjects? Some books provide this in the form of entertainment. This is the case of the saga created by Dan Brown. The adventures starring Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon turned into a series starting in Angels and Demons.

Far beyond the possibility of having contact with common historical facts, the book brings mysteries involving science and religion. Between revelations, the reader can question the boundary between fiction and reality.

The game of riddles and discoveries extends to a narrative full of facts and developments that seem to have no end. In this story, Langdon follows the onslaught of the Illuminati, a powerful fraternity that has resurfaced to exact revenge on the Catholic Church.

Dan Brown's most assiduous readers often report the book as relentless, with every page a new anxiety for the end. The accessible writing pace facilitates the rapid advance of reading, while the detailed description of the facts is the necessary factor to make it exciting.

Point of view

So far, I've talked about what readers usually think of the book. After many indications to read The Da Vinci Code, I decided to give in, but without first starting at the beginning.

What fascinated me most about the reading was the historical part, which refers to the real context. The fiction is interesting and well formulated, but the excess of details ended up making me a little irritated. The end of the book was what I least liked, every time it seemed to be the end, there was some further development, a bit mirabolous.

Despite these details, I still prefer the book over the movie. The strong point of fiction is the revelation of mysteries and the way they are interconnected.
