Is a toddler supposed to have screen time?

As a Mom who has a child born in digital age, how to manage the appropriate screen time? My son is only 15 months and if you asked the experts all of them would say it is not yet adviseable in his age. Yes I know but as a mother who is alone at home sometimes I need Youtube to survive the day. Nope not because I am lazy but there are some chores that need to be done.

Caleb watching on his phone, yeah that was my old one. Still wearing shoes. A little back story. I had to purchase one appropriate for him to ensure he won't slip. He is so active now and even attempts to run outside. His old one was good for those who aren't walking yet. Now, it seemed he can't move on with his new shoes and would always get eh and told me he wanted to wear them. Yes, in his language that both of us could understand.

As he was already walking, he no longer wanted to stay in his crib most of the time. Cooking was more challenging since he is always tailing behind. There were times he was busy playing, so I stood up, go to the room. Thank goodness I didn't step back or else he might have fallen down. He would follow me wherever I go, literally even in the comfort room. I lost my privacy, lol.

Thus if I let him watch, he would sometimes stay in his crib while dancing in the music he likes.

If that so, what was the problem then??

This past week he would most of the times tantrums especially at night. Unlike before, he would lay down and sleep on his own, he would cry as if I was hitting him. Point anything he saw, wanting to play with it. Then, throw them on the floor, cry and demand that I pick it up. As a human being tired of the whole day sometimes I almost lost my patience.

The past few days were even worse as there was a typhoon and we couldn't go out to stroll around. He was so bored and would cry so I let him watch YT again to pacify him. Yes, it helps at day but not at night time.

So, since the other day, I was trying to figure out what was wrong. Could it be teething? since he also refuses to eat. He would just smashed, squeezed and play the foods in his plate,

Thus, checking his gums was not easy. It took me a lot of effort and yes, a molar tooth on the upper part was erupting. No wonder!

Planning for something Caleb?

Thus, I also observed and didn't let him watch on YT the whole day. We spent the day playing and walking around the neighborhood. At the end of the day he was calmer. I think he was over-stimulated and the effect of Screen time was not good.

Though he wanted to be carried now in order to sleep it was much better than the other nights. In my case, I limit using my phone especially when he is awake.

Is there anyone here who is the same age as my son? Do you let your child had a screen time?
