It's okay, you're now a Mom so looking not good is normal. This is one of the phrases I often hear from anyone. Like if you're a Mother then it's no to take care of yourself. What's worse, there are some people who would leave negative opinions if they saw a mother still trying their best to look presentable. Well I? I refused and was determined to redeem my old self I had lost a year ago.
If you had seen me in person during the last two months of my pregnancy and after giving birth I look terrible. Big nose, breakouts, the unexplained dark parts in the body, look worn out, eyebags not to mention the weight gain. Those times I lost interest in taking selfies and not even looking at the mirror. Not only because seeing my face gave me insecurities but also I was buried by the responsibilities of being a Mom.
This is only some of the photos and I even look decent here. Yeah at that state 🤣. Photo reference.
Back those days that I couldn't even comb my hair. Some of you may know the struggles I've had as a first time Mom. Thus to give you a idea;
-
I delivered my son via emergency CS, no sign of labor and cervix dilation. My OB decided to perform the operation immediately to save my baby.
-
Still my baby is able to eat some of his meconium resulting from medication. The back and forth twice a day at the hospital with my fresh wounds instead of recovering at home.
- When he was 2 weeks old, he was admitted to the hospital for 3 nights and 2 days. The scariest days in my life.
- After a week of recovering he got rashes all over his body.
Not to mention I am alone in taking care of him since my husband was working abroad. @Asiaymalay daughter stayed with me in the last week of my pregnancy until a month after giving birth. My in-laws visit and help me during the day time but at night it was only and until now I'm awed how I survived.
That is why, in the first year my main focus was to nurture my son and make sure he is healthy. Thus, as he is a year older now, the past month made me think this is the perfect time to be back on track.
So when I went out with my son the other week, I dropped by here;
Yes, at Watson's as the plan is to buy skin care. However, Caleb kept on picking up some products and the thought that he might break something made my shopping faster. So far these are what I have bought.
Facial Scrub as my face was so dry and had a lot of unwanted visitors 🤣. Along with was a blackheads and whiteheads removal than I would use twice a week.
Toner and what made me choose this aside from the same brand with the scrub was;
It has three ways to use; essesnce, toner and mask. This time, no matter how tired I was at the end of the day I still got up from the bed just to do my skin care routine.
Facial mask to keep my face hydrated. It's been my routine to apply every Saturday night. So far, I can see the improvement.
And of course Vitamin E as last time, @macchiata commented in my blog that it is really good. Yeah, I got motivated and I placed it now on the dining table so I won't forget.
The only thing that I can't now is visiting a salon since it would take a day. I maybe wanted to take care of myself but my son is still the priority. Probably my husband will be home this December so that's the time for hair makeover.
In terms of weight loss I managed to shrug off some fats.
Not yet the ideal weight but at least there is progress as long as I stick with my routine.
