En este momento maravilloso y llena de expectativas, llego a Ecency, con la valiosa ayuda de @yuraimatc, quien me puso al tanto sobre esta plataforma y me actualizó de los amigos que ya formaban parte de ella.
Mi nombre es Liannet Cheong Sarmiento, nací en Camagüey, y guardo como un tesoro una bella historia familiar marcada por la emigración y el amor, de la cual les quisiera hablar en otra oportunidad.
Mi niñez transcurrió de manera muy activa. Siempre amé el arte, así que lo mismo cantaba en el coro de la escuela que bailaba en la banda rítmica, también pertenecí a un grupo de teatro en el que me asignaron el protagónico de la cucarachita Martina. Mi infancia estuvo marcada por la estabilidad familiar y los viajes a distintas regiones de Cuba.
Ello provocó que mi imaginación se nutriera de experiencias maravillosas de las que aún hoy no puedo desprenderme.
Sin embargo, algo sucedió por el camino con aquella niña extrovertida…en el paso a la adultez me transformé en una mujer reservada, al punto de dedicarle muchas horas a la escritura y no atreverme a compartir mis creaciones con nadie. Hoy puedo agradecerles a varios amigos la motivación para romper ese miedo que me congelaba y que definitivamente no existe más.
Por otra parte, me formé como licenciada en Letras en la Universidad de Oriente, en Santiago de Cuba. Mis estudios doctorales los realicé en la Universidad de La Habana, en el área de la lingüística. La ciencia es una de mis grandes pasiones, me gusta investigar, publicar artículos, participar en eventos y dirigir los proyectos de los estudiantes que contribuyo a formar en la Universidad de Camagüey.
Pero el sentimiento más elevado se lo debo a mi hijo. Él es la razón por la que me levanto cada día aferrada a mis objetivos, a la vida. También le gusta escribir, así que poco a poco le he ido creando su propia biblioteca. Ya no me necesita para leer, y ese es el mejor regalo que le he hecho: no puse en sus manos la tecnología (a la que tiene acceso de manera regulada, por supuesto), sino los libros impresos en papel.
Mi otro regalo es el tiempo, para él, para la familia y los amigos. El tiempo es nuestro bien más preciado, así que siempre que se lo dedicamos a alguien le estamos entregando parte de nuestra vida.
En mis ratos de ocio me gusta leer, escuchar música, hacer dulces, caminar al aire libre y conversar con los amigos. Sobre las lecturas, me agradan los temas propiamente literarios, los de crecimiento personal, los culturales, los culinarios, etc., así que estaré encantadísima de poderlos encontrar aquí.
Agradezco mucho haber accedido a esta plataforma y espero llegar a formar parte de sus respectivas comunidades.

My name is Liannet Cheong Sarmiento. I was born in Camagüey, and I treasure a beautiful family history marked by emigration and love, which I would like to tell you about another time.
My childhood was very active. I always loved art, so I sang in the school choir and danced in the rhythm band. I also belonged to a theater group where I was assigned the lead role of the cockroach Martina. My childhood was marked by family stability and trips to different regions of Cuba.
This fueled my imagination with wonderful experiences that I still can't shake off today.
However, something happened along the way with that outgoing girl… as I grew into adulthood, I became a reserved woman, to the point of devoting many hours to writing and not daring to share my creations with anyone. Today I can thank several friends for motivating me to break through that fear that froze me and that definitely no longer exists.
I also earned a degree in Literature from the University of Oriente in Santiago de Cuba. I completed my doctoral studies at the University of Havana, in the field of linguistics. Science is one of my greatest passions. I enjoy researching, publishing articles, participating in events, and leading the projects of the students I help train at the University of Camagüey.
But I owe my highest feeling to my son. He's the reason I wake up every day clinging to my projects, to life. He also loves to write, so little by little I've been building his own library. He no longer needs me to read, and that's the best gift I've ever given him: I didn't give him technology (to which he has regulated access, of course), but printed books.
My other gift is time—for him, for family, and friends. Time is our most precious asset, so whenever we dedicate it to someone, we are giving them a part of our lives.
In my free time, I like to read, listen to music, bake sweets, walk outdoors, and chat with friends. Regarding reading, I enjoy literary topics, personal growth, cultural topics, culinary topics, and more, so I'd be delighted to find them here.
