En casa de mi suegra estos días el calor se siente con más fuerza que nunca. Vivir en Cuba, un país tropical, tiene su encanto, pero también sus desafíos, y uno de los más grandes es enfrentar esas jornadas en las que el aire parece quedarse quieto y el sol calienta hasta las paredes.
Para sobrellevarlo, toda la familia termina reuniéndose alrededor del ventilador, casi como si fuera un ritual compartido. Cada quien busca un lugarcito donde la brisa pueda rozarle la piel y traer un poco de alivio. Es curioso cómo, en medio del calor, se crea un ambiente de unión: hablamos, nos reímos y compartimos el espacio sin que nadie lo planee, simplemente buscando refrescarnos.
Y, por supuesto, la gata no se queda atrás. Ella es parte de la familia y ha aprendido sus propias estrategias para refrescarse. Se estira con elegancia frente al ventilador, alarga las patas como si quisiera atrapar el aire fresco y acomoda su cuerpo de una forma tan graciosa que es imposible no reír. A veces parece una modelo felina posando para una sesión de fotos improvisada. Su carita de satisfacción y su manera tan natural de hacerse un espacio nos enternecen tanto que siempre alguien corre a buscar un teléfono para fotografiarla.
Entre risas, ventiladores y cariño, el calor se hace más llevadero. Porque cuando se comparte, incluso eso se convierte en un recuerdo bonito.

At my mother-in-law’s house these days, the heat is felt more intensely than ever. Living in Cuba, a tropical country, has its charm, but also its challenges, and one of the biggest is facing those days when the air seems to stand still and the sun heats even the walls.
To cope with it, the whole family ends up gathering around the fan, almost as if it were a shared ritual. Each person finds a little spot where the breeze can brush their skin and bring a bit of relief. It’s curious how, in the middle of the heat, a sense of togetherness is created: we talk, we laugh, and we share the space without anyone planning it, simply looking to cool down.
And of course, the cat is no exception. She is part of the family and has learned her own strategies to stay cool. She stretches out gracefully in front of the fan, extends her paws as if trying to catch the fresh air, and positions her body in such a funny way that it’s impossible not to laugh. Sometimes she looks like a feline model posing for an improvised photo shoot. Her satisfied little face and her natural way of making space for herself warm our hearts so much that someone always runs to grab a phone to take a picture of her.
Amid laughter, fans, and affection, the heat becomes easier to bear. Because when it’s shared, even that turns into a beautiful memory.
