Changes Coming to Splinterlands on March 18: Land 1.75, Marketplace Rental and a new Voucher Card!
+ My Daily Battles in Survival Mode
The last and most interesting new feature introduced on Splinterlands was **Survival Mode** (Feb. 27, 2025): a new game mode that increased the use cases of Splinterlands cards.
**Three other new features/changes are coming soon** that will relate to **Lands**, to the **Rental Marketplace**, and to the **promo card** that can be purchased with **Vouchers** (in-game items).
These changes will be introduced on **March 18, 2025**.
# Land 1.75 Update
Currently, land plots can only produce 3 types of resources: **Grain, SPS** and **Research**.
After the March 18 change, lands will always be able to produce Grain, SPS, Research but also **Wood, Stone and Iron**.
**Resource production will be terrain-dependent.**
This means that:
- you can produce **Grain** if you have a terenno of the types: **Plains, River, Bog, Lake**
- you can produce **Wood** if you have a terenno of the types: **Swamp, Forest, Tundra, Jungle**
- you can produce **Stone** if you have a terenno of the types: **Desert, Canyon, Hills**
- you can produce **Ores** if you have a terenno of the types: **Mountain, Badlands, Caldera**

For example, if you have a **Desert plot** that produces Grain starting March 18, **your grain production will automatically be converted to Stone production**.
If you have a Plains plot that produces Grain your plot will continue to produce grain.
It will change the process of **producing SPS and Research** which will have a **cost in grain** as now but to which will also be added a **cost in Wood, Stone and Iron**.

**This is why it is important that you harvest from your Land plots before the update is activated because if you do it later you will have a cost in Grain, Wood, Stone and Iron instead of the current single cost in Grain ;)**

To facilitate the exchange of the various resources will be added:
- **Resource Swaps**
- **new Liquidity Pools** that will have DEC tokens and producible resources in land plots as pairs.
# Change in the Rental Market
On March 18, the SPS Proposal **[Make Rentals Seasonal Only](https://peakd.com/@clayboyn/sps-governance-proposal-make-rentals-seasonal-only)** approved by 82 percent will take effect.
It will no longer be possible to rent a card for between 2 and 14 days.
It will only be possible to rent cards for a minimum seasonal period = minimum 15 days if the season has just started.
# New Promo Card that can be purchased with Vouchers.
On March 18, Ulfga the Blighted will be removed from the Voucher Shop and will be replaced by a **new promo card: Kelan Gaines**.

Kelan Gaines is an interesting card because it can be used with two-element summoners (Death and Dragon) but in my opinion it is especially interesting at the highest level because there are only two other cards that have **magic attack** and **Double Strike** ability.
In addition, the **Phase** and **Backfire** abilities are also particularly rare among cards with magic attack.
# My recent battles in Survival Mode.
I will end this post by showing you my game activity in Survival Mode when there is 1 day and 15 hours left until the end of the season.
Before my daily play session I was in Bronze III league with a rating = 260 and had played 40 battles in Survival Mode:
- 23 battles lost
- 17 battles won
Today I tried to improve my results and played more battles thanks to the end of the cooldown period of some of my summoner type cards.
In fact after the end of my play session that I shared in my previous post I could no longer play in Survival Mode because I had run out of summoners available for this format.

Today I played **8 battles** in Survival Mode and collected **8 lost battles**.
It was my worst playing session in Survival Mode to date but my battles can still be useful to understand the level of players in Survival Mode.
For me they were also an opportunity to realize what and how many cards I might need to improve my results in this format, which I find really fun.
In my opinion, it's just too bad it's not exclusively for human players!

L'ultima e più interessante novità introdotta su Splinterlands è stato il Survival Mode (27 febbraio 2025): una nuova modalità di gioco che ha aumentato i casi d'uso delle carte di Splinterlands.
Sono in arrivo altre tre novità/cambiamenti che riguarderanno le Land, il Rental Marketplace e la promo card acquistabile con i Voucher.

Attualmente le land possono produrre solo 3 tipi di risorse: Grano, SPS e Research.
Dopo la modifica del 18 marzo le land potranno produrre sempre Grano, SPS, Research ma anche **Wood, Stone e Iron**.
La produzione di risorse sarà dipendente dal terreno (terrain-dependent).
Questo vuol dire che:
- puoi produrre Grano se hai un terenno delle tipologie: Plains, River, Bog, Lake
- puoi produrre Wood se hai un terenno delle tipologie: Swamp, Forest, Tundra, Jungle

Se ad esempio hai un terreno Desert che produce Grano a partire dal 18 marzo la tua produzione di grano sarà in automatico convertita in produzione di Stone.
Se hai un terreno Plains che produce Grano il tuo terreno continuerò a produrre grano.
Cambierà il processo di produzione degli SPS e dei Research che avrà un costo in grano come ora ma al quale si aggiungerà anche un costo in Wood, Stone e Iron.

**Per questo motivo è importante che fai l'harvest dai tuoi Land plots prima dell'attivazione dell'update perchè se lo fai dopo avrai un costo in Grain, Wood, Stone e Iron invece dell'attuale singolo costo in Grain ;)**
