Another season of Splinterlands has recently ended. By now I have lost count of the number of seasons I have played since I have been a Splinterlands player (October 18, 2019) but opening a good number of chests is always fun. There was also a nice new feature in this season finale: the implementation of the **Non-Card Market** accessible from the **Market -> Other Items** section of the Splinterlands website. From the Non-Card Market it will be possible to sell all Splinterlands assets except cards that have their own section (Card Sales).  In the last seven days I have had a lot of commitments in my real life and because of this I have had to reduce both my interaction and posting activity on Hive and my playing activity on Splinterlands. With little free time available I have played few games compared to previous seasons and playing almost always in a hurry I have hardly watched the last five battles of my opponents and this has resulted in a really low win rate: 50% (Wild Format).  I finished the season in the **Gold I** league but fortunately I was able to gain access even if only on the last day of the season in the **Diamond III** league and then return to the Gold I league and then I will be able to receive Diamond type chests again at the end of the currently running season but I will have to start from the **Silver I** league.  The end-of-season reward was not very exciting ($3.04).  But in the card pack I found the legendary card **Spirit Hoader** and in the last reward of the focus daily I found **292 SPS** and so I am still satisfied with the rewards I got during the last day of the season which have a total value of **$20.32**.   In the previous months, I focused on selling the cards I was not using in battle, and through this sale I accumulated a good amount of DEC tokens. My **initial plan** was to **wait for the DEC token to reach its peg** (1000 DEC = $1) in order to purchase cards useful in battle to make the final leap into the Diamond leagues. However, the DEC token never reached its peg although it came very close on November 8, 2022 when **1000 DEC** was worth **$0.91**.  Then there was the collapse of the FTX centralized exchange and its FTT token, and almost all blockchain project tokens saw declines in value. Today, however, there are still **favorable conditions** to buy cards from the market because: - DEC tokens have a good value: **1000 DEC = $0.740** (+9.9% in 24h) - Splinterlands card prices have averaged lower over the past 30 days   Therefore, I decided to start immediately to strengthen my card collection with the **goal of playing in Diamond leagues from the first days of the season** and not only on the last day of the season. To return to playing in Diamond leagues I therefore need to **optimize my card collection** and to do so I need to: - **continue to sell cards that are of little use in battle and/or that I never use in battle**. - **continue to sell cards that are objectively useful in battle but only at a certain level and that I have no intention of upgrading** - **buy cards that are useful in battle**  ## The great usefulness of Peakmonsters in the card selling process  Today I selected and offered for sale **541 cards (590 BCX)** that I have never used in battle or have used little in battle over the past five seasons.  For example, I chose to sell: - **Queen Mycelia Gold** because I have another copy and because I have the higher level regular version. - **Soulstorm Gold** because I have the regular version and the Gold version I have really rarely used in battle - 3 copies of **Halfling Alchemist** level 1 because I have 2 other copies that I decided to keep. To quickly choose cards to sell I used the **[Peakmonsters](https://peakmonsters.com/)** site which has a lot of really useful filters. I like to open two Peakmonsters windows at the same time. In the first window I display the **My Cards** section and choose the **BULK** view and put the filters: - **For Sale = No** - **For Rent = No** - **Delegated = No** - **Owned = Yes**  In the second window I display the **Buy** section and choose the **LIST** view. When from the My Cards section I find a card that I never or almost never use in battle I move to the window with the Buy section and use the **Card Name** search field to quickly see the **market price** of the card I would like to sell and other useful information such as **High Bid, Low Buy** and **Low Price for BCX**  The great usefulness of [Peakmonsters](https://peakmonsters.com/) is perticularly evident in the operation of putting several cards up for sale at once. After I selected the 541 cards to sell, it was only necessary to enter in the **Confirm Cards Listing** screen the **-0.5%** value in the **Relative (+/- Perc) Low Buy Price** field to put **541 cards** up for sale at the lowest market price per individual BCX with **a few clicks** and taking **very little time**.  How much time would I have spent if I had made the same transactions from the Splinterlandsa site?  ## Purchase goals  If I sell all the cards I put up for sale today I will get a value of **$548** to reinvest in buying cards to increase the battle strength of my card collection. While waiting for my cards to be sold I can already start shopping in the market because I have an amount of 1124000 DEC to spend. In choosing cards to upgrade/purchase I will proceed by element and today I want to share my purchase goals related to cards from the Chaos Legion collection that are part of the Fire element.   ### Upgrade of the cheap but useful cards in battle of the Fire element  The first task I did today was to upgrade the Chaos Legion edition cards that have a low cost per BCX and that I use often in battle. The first card I decided to upgrade is **Lava Launcher**. It is a card that I don't really use often but I consider it a good choice when **available mana is plentiful** and when the battle rules are particularly conducive to its use such as the **Heavy Hitters** battle rule.  I decided to bring Lava Launcher to the maximum level and to do so I purchased 15 BCX and spent **$1.20**  After Lava Launcher I chose to upgrade **Tusk the Wide**. I chose to raise my Tusk The Wide from level 2 to level 4. Tusk The Wide is a card that is not very useful at level 1 but **becomes very useful from level 4** because it acquires the **Inspire** ability. Tusk the wide at level 4 is a good possible choice when the battle rules are **Melee Mayhem**, **Super Sneak**, **Up Close and Personal** and **Reverse Speed**.  I also chose to upgrade Tusk The Wide because I have the level 6 **Daria Dragonscale** summoner who has the ability to increase Tusk the Wide's attack by one unit. As a **third upgrade goal** I chose the **Exploding Rats** card. I have 71 BCXs in my card collection and decided to purchase 44 more BCXs to bring Exploding Rats to the maximum level. **Exploding Rats is not a card that can be used frequently** but when the battle rules are **Equalizer + Equal Opportunity/Melee Mayhem/Super Sneak** it becomes a great choice.  For example in a battle with Equalizer + Melee Mayhem rulesets I could use Exploding Rats of level 8 in combination with Daria Dragonscale and Tusk the Wiide. In this case I would have a card with a very high speed (7 points), 6 point attack whose destructive power is amplified by the blast ability. I also chose to make this upgrade because the cost I have to incur is really small: **0.704$**.  ### Upgrade of legendary cards  The fire element legendary cards from the Chaos Legion edition that I would like to upgrade to the highest level are: - **Grum Flameblade** - **Countess Sinash** In my collection I have: - 1 **Grum Flameblade** is **level 3** (6 BCX) - 1 **Grum Flameblade** of **level 1**.  In order to bring Grum Flamebalde to the maximum level, I must purchase **4 BCX**. In this case, I chose not to purchase 4 BCX right away but to make **bid purchase offers** from the Peakmonsters site. I made this choice because for the past few seasons I have played almost always in the Gold league except on the last day of the season. **Even if I upgrade my Grum Flameblade to level 4 today, I will not be able to use it until I reach Diamond league.** With BID offers I do not reach my upgrade goal right away but I have a probability of spending less if my BID is accepted. In the following image you can see the BID purchase offer I made today from the Peakmonsters site  I would also like to have **Countess Sinash** of **level 4** in my collection. Again, I have chosen the BID offer through the Peakmonsters site as my purchase option. Since I only have 1 BCX I need to purchase another **10 BCX**.  In the following image you can see the purchase offer I made today.   ## Final Considerations  With the purchases I made today I increased the battle strength of my Chaos Legion edition fire element card collection. With the upgrade of Lava Launcher and Exploding Rats, I doubled the number of fire element cards in the Chaos Legion collection that I took to the maximum level.  The purchases I have made and shared in this post will most likely not be enough to get back to playing in the Diamond leagues of Splinterlands but I have definitely taken a step toward my goal.
