The **season 155** is in progress on Splinterlands and will end in 4 days and 2 hours.  During season 154, on February 27, 2025, a **new Ranked game mode** was introduced: the **Survival Mode**.  Thanks to the addition of Survival Mode on Splinteralnds there are **three Ranked game modes** that can be played: - **Wild Format**: it is possible to use cards from all sets, Wild Pass must be paid each season, multi-accounts, bots and battle helpers are allowed - **Modern Format**: only cards from the last two sets released in time order can be used, multi-accounts are allowed but bots and battle helpers are prohibited - **Survival Mode**: it is possible to use cards from all sets, multi-accounts, bots and battle helpers are allowed |Modern Format|Wild Format|Survival Mode| |-|-|-| |||| **I consider very positively** the recent introduction of **Survival Mode** (Feb. 27, 2025) because: - **more game modes = more possibilities for fun** - the Survival Mode created **new use cases for cards** and in particular created an **interest in accumulating multiple copies of the same card** because **in the Survival Mode, cards that die in battle enter a cooldown period** and cannot be used in the other game modes during the cooldown period. During the **first season of Survival Mode** I played only **48 battles**. I had fun playing in Survival Mode but my game results were not exciting from the point of view of win rate and from the point of view of rewards received. In fact, I finished **my first season in Survival Mode** in the **Bronze III** league with a **rating = 260** and my **rank** was **513th**.  This season I have not yet played in Survival Mode because I have had a lot of work commitments and many family commitments, and I have used my little free time by prioritizing my playing in the **Modern Format** which is my favorite format because I like to play manually only against human players like myself and the Modern Format is the only ranked type format where the use of bots and the use of battle helpers is prohibited.  In this post I share **my daily game activity in Survival Mode** and also **my game strategy in this format which will be very focused on playing the last day of the current season**. Before starting my daily play session in Survival Mode my **starting point** was: - **Battles**: 0 - **Wins**: 0 - **Rating**: 260 - **Tier**: Bronze III - **Avaiable Cards**: 1151 - **Depleted Cards**: 0 - **SPS staked**: 133199 - 51000 (delegated) = **82199** In my **first battle** I met a player with a **Power = 38160**.  I could have started my game session with a victory but I had to step away from the pc just in the team creation phase and when I returned to the pc I had only 10 seconds available and I didn't have time to select two more monsters and played with only 4 cards instead of six. In this case the difference in the level of my cards compared to my opponent's cards made the difference and I won the battle. Out of 13 battles **I won 6 battles** and my **win rate** improved compared to the win rate I achieved in the previous season in this new format: **+10.74%**  My gains in SPS per battle won have also increased compared to the previous season but are still much lower than the gain per win I get from playing in the Diamond I league in the Modern Format: - my **last battle won** in **Survival Mode**: **0.304 SPS** - my **last battle won** in the **Modern Format**: **7.72 SPS**   Starting this season, I started keeping track of the SPS gains I receive from playing in Survival Mode.  This data will be important for me to evaluate in the future whether to continue playing in Survival Mode or whether it will be better to put the cards I use in Survival Mode on the rental market. My **weak point** in Survival Mode is that **I have few summoner cards** which limits the number of battles I can play in this format. In addition **in Survival Mode I can't/won't use the cards I use in Modern Format** because if I did I would risk cooldown for the cards I use in Modern Format and I would worsen my game results and also my seasonal gain in SPS in my favorite format. **There is, however, a small but useful window of time when I will be able to use all my cards in Survival Mode** without risking cooldown for an extended period of time: **the last day of the season**. In fact **the cooldown of cards used in survival mode is reset at the beginning of each season**.
