I discovered **Hive** in March **2019** and it was **love at first sight** because I love decentralization and immediately saw potential in Hive and my publishing and interaction activity on Hive clearly shows how much I like Hive.  I discovered **Splinterlands** in September **2019** and it was **love at first sight** because from the very first battle I enjoyed playing.  Splinterlands is more than 6 years old and even though there are other games on Hive and even though there are games in development with potential on Hive, **Splinterlands is in my opinion the most fun, complete and structured game present on Hive even though there are many aspects to improve**. Screenshot from: https://peakd.com/me/proposals The proposal will receive **2777 HBD per day** for **180 days** but only if it passes a total vote higher than the total vote received by the **Return Proposal**.  After reading posts and comments on this proposal, I decided to write this post to **share my choice** regarding the DHF proposal, **my personal opinions** and **my personal thoughts**. First of all, I want to express my thoughts on the discussion that opened up after @yabapmatt wrote: >I have no interest in moving the game to another chain, as I truly believe that Hive is the best chain to support our mission, but if we're unable to raise the capital we need from the DHF and/or other investors who support us staying here, then it is possible we could be forced to do so at some point in the future. Among the many comments I have read around on Hive there are those who have taken the opportunity to say that **it is almost Hive's fault that Splinterlands is in this situation and that the future of Splinterlands would be better on other chains**. In my opinion **whoever thinks that Splinterlands would be more successful on other chains is just a gamer and does not know Hive and its many utilities at all**! But most importantly Splinterlands is not a new game and cannot be compared with new games developed on other chains but should be compared with games created on other chains that are about the same years old as Splinterlands. If you look at the graphs of **DEC** tokens (native token of Splinterlands on Hive) and AXS tokens (native token of Axie Infinity on Ethereum) you will notice an almost similar graph considering the forms created and the time in which the changes in value occurred.   The two graphs show how the argument of those who say that it is Hive that is the problem for Splinterlands expresses an opinion and not demonstrable fact. **The truth is that all play-to-earn games with more than one year of life have been suffering after the end of the bull run that began in 2021.** Splinterlands has **two great merits** in my opinion: - **it created a strategy game** based on NFT **great and fun**. - **had a great idea and great timing** when he created the **SPS** token on **BSC** in late July 2021, which introduced Splinterlands to many new players and also brought many new users to Hive.  It is no coincidence that the **HIVE** token reached its **ATH** in **December 2021** and much of the merit for this value can be attributed to Splinterlands and its success in my opinion. But to say that Splinterlands has given so much to Hive without also considering what Hive has given to Splinterlands I do not agree with that and I disagree on that point because in my opinion: **Splinterlands is not Hive and Hive is not Splinterlands!** **Splinterlands gave so much to Hive but Hive also gave so much to Splinterlands!** **Splinterlands gave so much value to Hive because it brought innovation (tools), it burned so many HIVEs, it created so many new accounts but most importantly it gave Hive my favorite blockchain game and also one of the most beautiful and fun games in the whole blockchain landscape**. For these reasons the whole Hive community has to say thank you to Splinterlands but Hive also played an important role in the success that Splinterlands has had. **Splinterlands by choosing Hive has chosen a blockchain that is useful, fast, technologically better than many other blockchain projects, with transaction costs = 0 and therefore ideal on the player side.** To transfer at 0 cost a DEC token or NFT of Splinterlands on Hive requires very few RC=have fractions of HP (HIVE staked) that always remain the player's and thus are not a cost (they are not fees)! To transfer an NFT on almost all the blockchains that were there when Splinterlands was born it was necessary to spend fees for each transaction and also wait a long time to complete the transfer. **Splinterlands was born on Hive and had the support and enthusiasm of the beautiful Hive community and for that it will always have to thank Hive!** To decide who gave more to one or the other between Splinterlands and Hive we would need to know in detail: - how many new accounts Splinterlands created and how many of those accounts used Hive and how much HP they maintained - how much profit the people who worked for Splinterlands made. I do not know this data and therefore **cannot give an analytical assessment but I can give my opinion as a simple Hive lover and a simple Splinterlands lover**. Hive and Splinterlands are for me a winning combination. Splinterlands has shown that Hive to be successful must have useful applications and/or fun games and therefore must be able to attract developers and new projects. In my opinion to attract developers and projects Hive needs to implement **smart contracts** (fortunately they are in development). In my opinion to attract new players **Splinterlands must return to focus on the game and players**, a focus it completely lost in the midst of the bull run when it prioritized **number of transactions** (**tolerated bots**), sold millions of Chaos Legion packs, increased the price of card packs, and **started neglecting the playful needs of its strong and solid base composed of the Hivers/players who have always loved playing on Splinterlands and kept their assets without selling them**. In the **DHF Proposal** @yabapmatt described the **future goals that Splinterlands wants to achieve** and they are goals that I like.  **But I also think the goals**: - improving our onboarding experience to increase the conversion rate from new players signing up through spending money in the ecosystem - launch a major marketing campaign - hopefully coinciding with the beginning of the next major bull market in crypto. - hiring a top web3 marketer and running a number of marketing and promotional campaigns to bring a significant amount of attention and active, paying users to the Hive blockchain through Splinterlands **conceptually and logically clash with the presence and tolerance of bots in the Wild Format|** The bots and bot-farms in the Wild Format continue to displease and drive the real player base away from Splinterlands and the Wild Pass is a bad solution in my opinion! **The pillars of any web 2.0 or web 3.0 game are the real, active players who love to play and enjoy spending their time playing.** **How can you improve the gaming experience of a new player who enters Splinterlands today, buys Chaos Legion cards to play in the Modern Format with real players like him, and then finds out that when the new set of cards will be released he will be forced to play and use his Chaos Legion cards against bots and bot-farms and will also have to pay a seasonal entry fee (Wild Pass) to play against bots and bot-farms?** But only I see the absurdity and counterproductivity of continuing to tolerate bots? But only I see a real short-circuit between intent and action? I really appreciated the part in the DHF Proposal where @yabapmatt admits that there were mistakes because no one is perfect and admitting to making mistakes is always a show of strength.
