There are several game modes on Splinterlands: - **Ranked:** - **Frontier Format** (free-to-play and for human players only) - **Modern Format** (for human players only) - **Wild Format** (private bots allowed) - **Survival Mode** (private bots allowed) - **Challenge** - **Practice** - **Campaign** - **Guild Brawls** (human players only) - **Tournaments** (for human players only) - **Land**  With so many game modes, not all cards have the same utility: some become essential, others become stuck in the collection On Splinterlands there are also many cards of different editions and types.  In some game modes/formats you can only use a subset of the cards of Splinterlands. For example in Modern Format you can only use cards of the Conclave Arcana and Rebellion sets while in Wild Format you can use all cards. With so many game modes and with so many cards that can be bought and/or rented, it is not always easy to identify cards that are of little use for a player = cards that are not used in battles or are rarely used in battles especially when one has many cards. In this post I share **the method I use to quickly identify cards I don't use or rarely use** in the game modes in which I am active. Finding unused cards is important to me because **an unused card is an idle resource: I can either sell it or rent it out.**. In the ITEMS->CARD COLLECTION section by clicking on a single card you can see the time that has passed since each card was used.   But clicking on each individual card to see the Last Played information is a very time-consuming operation especially for those who have a very large card collection. For example, I have 925 unbound cards (my own property), which equals 23017 BCX. I am an active player - in the **Modern Format** - in the **Survival Mode** - in the new **Frontier Mode** - in the **Brawls** - in the **Lands** and in the **Conflicts**  That's why I use a simple method to find out in a few minutes which cards I'm not really using To quickly identify the cards I'm not using in the game: - **Step 1: I login to [Peakmonsters](https://peakmonsters.com/)**.  https://peakmonsters.com/  - **Step 2: I go to the My Cards section**  - **Step 3: I use the filter Not Used (days) = 7**.  - **Step 4**: This way **I get a list of unused cards** for a time interval of **7 days or more** = possible cards to sell or to rent out  - **Step 5**: If I want to know the exact number of days a card has been unused **I go to the Items->Cards** section of Splinterlands and look only for the card in the Peakmonsters list without having to click on all the cards in my collection.   **This way I speeded up my search and saved a lot of time!** On [Peakmonsters](https://peakmonsters.com/) there are **many filters** that you can combine to make **targeted and customised searches**. For example, today I wanted to know the list of my Wild Cards that: - are owned by me - I have not used in battles for at least 7 days - I have not used in my Land plots - I do not use in the current Conflict (in Mage wagons) - are not for sale - are not on the rental market In the next image you can see the Peakmonsters filters I used for my research.  **Thanks to this research I quickly identified some possible cards for sale or rent.**  For example my top level **VRUZ** card was last used in Survival Mode 9 days ago.  Vruz is a card I consider very useful in battle and is also a card I used very frequently in Modern Format when Chaos Legion cards could be used in Modern Format. Once I have identified an underused card, I assess whether it is worth selling or renting. **I decided not to sell VRUZ** because it is a very useful card in Wild Format and Tournaments. **I decided to give VRUZ for rent** because I don't play in the Wild Format (the Wild Pass absorbs almost all of my seasonal income) and because I don't play in tournaments (I would like to but I have little free time) and above all because in Survival Mode it is little used by [XBOT](https://xbot.app/home) who plays instead of me in this format. In fact in the last 30 days [XBOT](https://xbot.app/home) has only used VRUZ once in Survival Mode.  I have made VRUZ available for rent at a price of **6.26 DEC per day** and if any player rents my VRUZ I will have turned **a card of little use to me into a daily income in DEC** that I can use to buy or rent useful cards for me in Modern Format which is my preferred format.
