For three long Summer months, not a drop of rain fell in Smederevo. The start of the competition was scheduled for Saturday, September 7, but it was postponed… because of the rain! Fortunately, because it allowed me to arrive at the event while the sailboats were still entering the water.
Три дуга летња месеца у Смедереву није пала кап кише. Почетак такмичења био је заказан за суботу, 7. септембар, али је померен… због кише! На срећу, јер ми је то омогућило да стигнем на догађај док су једрилице још улазиле на воду.
Since guests from North Macedonia took part in this regatta, it had the character of an international competition.
Пошто су на овој регати учествовали гости из Северне Македоније, она је имала карактер међународног такмичења.
The competition took place in three classes. The youngest performed in the ‘bath tubs’ of the ‘Optimist’ class…
Такмичење се одвијало у три класе. Најмлађи су наступали у ‘кадицама’ класе ‘Оптимист’…
With the acquisition of experience, the younger categories move to more serious sailboats of the ‘Laser’ class.
Са стицањем искуства, млађе категорије прелазе на озбиљније једрилице класе ‘Ласер’.
The most serious (Olympic) class marked as '470' consists of sailboats with two sails and two crew members. Here are our favorites, Wolf and Maria.
Најозбиљнију (олимпијску) класу означену као ‘470’ чине једрилице са два једра и два члана посаде. Ту су наши фаворити, Вук и Марија.
Then the marking of the path began with the placement of buoys, and the inspectors watched from the water and from the air…
Затим је почело обележавање стазе постављањем бова, а инспектори су мотрили из воде и ваздуха…
And no, these are not fans, but referees who give the signal to start the competition!
И не, ово нису навијачи него судије које дају знак за почетак такмичења!
Speaking of fans… it’s a shame that there weren't more of them at such an interesting competition. I'm afraid the competition wasn’t presented well enough to the wider public. Mostly friends and family of the competitors came, as well as local residents whose everyday life was disrupted by the competition:
Кад смо код навијача… штета што их на овако занимљивом такмичењу није било више. Бојим се да такмичење није било довољно добро представљено у јавности. Дошли су углавном пријатељи и породица такмичара, као и локални становници чију је свакодневницу такмичење пореметило:

I was late for the competition on the second day, but the priority was to make a few photos of the winners at the podium…
На други дан такмичења сам каснио, али приоритет је био да направим неколико фотографија победника на подијуму…
And when the crews pulled the sailboats ashore, the long wait for the results and the preparation for the awarding of the trophies began…
И кад су посаде извукле једрилице на обалу, почело је дуго чекање на резултате и припрема за доделу трофеја…
