I wish everyone a lovely Sunday. In my case, I decided to treat myself to a peaceful day, without rushing or commitments, just to be with my family and breathe calmly. Sometimes that's what's most valuable: taking a break, sharing with those we love, and letting Sunday embrace us with its slow rhythm. Today was one of those days when the city seemed to echo that desire for rest, and everything aligned to make it a beautiful, intimate day full of little moments that are worth their weight in gold.
And as part of this peaceful Sunday, we decided to visit my uncle, whose birthday it was. He's my mom's brother, and we've always been very close. I visit him whenever I can, and even more so on such an important day as this. His house is in Luyanó, and the three of us went there: my mom (his sister), my husband, and me. We spent a pleasant time laughing, telling stories, and reminiscing. Although he's been a little sad lately because of my cousin who emigrated and some health problems, we managed to cheer him up and give him a special moment.
To get there and back we took Avenida del Puerto, a route I always enjoy traveling because of what it offers to the eyes and the soul.

*Deseo para todos un lindo domingo. En mi caso, decidí regalarme un día tranquilo, sin apuros ni compromisos, solo para estar en familia y respirar con calma. A veces lo más valioso es eso: hacer una pausa, compartir con los que queremos y dejar que el domingo nos abrace con su ritmo lento. Hoy fue uno de esos días en que la ciudad parecía acompañar ese deseo de descanso, y todo se alineó para que fuera una jornada bonita, íntima y llena de pequeños momentos que valen oro.
Y como parte de este domingo tranquilo decidimos visitar a mi tío, que estaba de cumpleaños. Él es el hermano de mi mamá, y siempre hemos sido muy cercanos. No dejo de visitarlo cada vez que puedo, y mucho menos en un día tan importante como este. Su casa está en Luyanó, y allá fuimos los tres: mi mamá (su hermana), mi esposo y yo. Pasamos un rato agradable entre risas, cuentos y recuerdos. Aunque últimamente ha estado un poco triste por la ausencia de mi primo que emigró y por algunos problemas de salud, logramos animarlo y regalarle un momento bonito.
Para ir y regresar tomamos la Avenida del Puerto, una ruta que siempre me gusta recorrer por lo que ofrece a la vista y al alma.*

We continued on our way and passed near the ferry terminal, where boats cross the bay to Regla and Casa Blanca. Right at the beginning of Alameda de Paula, across from the terminal, there's a small park called Aracelio Iglesias. It's a green space with benches and shade, where the city seems to pause before embarking. It's unassuming, but it has its charm; amidst the shade and the salty air, travelers await their departure.

After visiting my uncle, in the late afternoon/evening we paused near the floating boardwalk, that wooden pier that extends into the bay as if it wanted to better hear the secrets of the sea. The three of us sat there, calm and serene, feeling as though we had given my uncle a moment of affection. We let the wind tousle our thoughts, while the sea, with its patient ebb and flow, seemed to bless us with its salt and its silence. It was a suspended moment, as if Havana were giving us permission to remain still, simply breathing together.
*Después de la visita a mi tío, en la tarde-noche hicimos una pausa cerca del malecón flotante, ese muelle de madera que se adentra en la bahía como si quisiera escuchar mejor los secretos del mar. Nos sentamos los tres, tranquilos y serenos, con la sensación de haberle regalado a mi tío un momento de cariño. Dejamos que el viento nos despeinara los pensamientos, mientras el mar, con su vaivén paciente, parecía bendecirnos con su sal y su silencio. Fue un instante suspendido, como si La Habana nos diera permiso para quedarnos quietos, simplemente respirando juntos.*
