I don´t know if this practise is happening in other countries too but here in the Czech Republic, strawberry self-picking is a very popular and fun activity to get amazing, fresh and cheap strawberries.
We just visited such a farm earlier today and I thought it could be a cool topic for my post so here it comes. The strawberry farm that we visited is located in the Prague neighborhood of Kunratice and the price for 1 kg of self-picked strawberries in there is currently 78 CZK, which is approximately 3.5 USD or 3.5 EUR. That´s much cheaper than what you get in supermarket of course because you don´t have to pay for someone else to pick the strawberries for you. You can either bring your own baskets / boxes / whatever into which you will be putting the picked strawberries or you can buy some paper boxes at the farm.
We were not very lucky in terms of timing because when we came to the farm, the section where picking was allowed was almost empty and we didn´t want to wait too long until they open some new sections of the farm so we had to pick what was left in there and it therefore took us a bit longer than we thought but we still managed to pick some 5 kg of delicious strawberries in about one hour. Now, we just need to think what to do with them hehe 🙂 Here are some shots that I took at the farm.
