I remember when they announced on television that there were already cases of COVID in our country. I was at work that day, and my reaction was one of anguish. From that day on, I really started to panic. I remember not letting anyone into my house for fear of being infected. My children were young, and they didn't leave the house for six months.
Recuerdo cuando dieron la noticia por medios televisión que ya nuestro país había casos de COVID. Ese día estaba en mi trabajo y mi reacción fue de angustia. Realmente a partir de esa fecha entre en pánico. Recuerdo no dejaba que nadie entrara a mi casa por temor a ser contagiado. Mis hijos estaban pequeños y duraron 6 meses sin salir de casa.
For me, it was one of the worst moments I have ever experienced. Even though I have lived through difficult political and social situations in my country, this event had a profound impact on my emotional stability. I was so afraid of losing a family member, it was horrible. I became paranoid for a long time.
Para mí fue uno de los peores momentos que viví. Ya que a pesar de que he vivido situaciones políticas y sociales fuertes en mi país. Este marco un episodio que marco mucho mi estabilidad emocional. Sentía tanto temor a poder perder un familiar, era horrible. Me volví paranoica por mucho tiempo.
At that time, my younger sister, who lived with us, loved going out, and it turned out that the first case of COVID in my town was the husband of one of my sister's friends. That night was horrible, thinking that my whole family was infected.
En esos tiempos mi hermana pequeña que vivía con nosotros le gustaba mucho salir y resulta que el primer caso de COVID de mi localidad fue un esposo de las amigas de mi hermana. Esa noche fue horrible, pensando toda mi familia estaba contagiada.
Thank God, I was able to control myself over time and managed to take a different attitude towards this situation. I realised that I couldn't escape this reality and that we just had to take care of ourselves and comply with the necessary precautions for this type of pandemic. I hope I never have to go through something like this again. Many people I knew lost their lives.
Gracias a dios, pude controlarme con el pasar del tiempo y logré tomar otra actitud frente a esta situación. Tome en cuenta que no podía escapar de esta realidad y que solo debíamos cuidarnos y cumplir con los cuidados necesarios para este tipo de pandemia. Espero nunca volver a vivir algo como esto. Ya que se perdieron muchas vidas de personas conocidas.
