The Mellow Colours of the Fall

The way we perceive colour is a fascinating affair that begins when light strikes the retina in our eyes, activating cells that react to short (blue), medium (green), and long (red) wavelengths. When the medium and long-sensitive cells combine inputs in the brain, then we perceive the colour yellow. There are also other conditions in which yellow can be perceived thanks to a host of complex neural processes that we still don't really understand. Suffice it to say, the fall is the perfect time to activate those yellow-loving photonic cells.

Windy day.

Any surface greater that 90 degrees is fair game for nature to reclaim.

It always amazes me how many trees are losing their leaves as temperatures drop but other trees become fruitful this time of the year.

A few leaves will remain green, warmed by the South Pacific winds but others will slowly turn colour and fall.
