Come and check out how I ended up in the most beautiful spot to sleep in my van Beth ~ in Långvind, Sweden 🇸🇪 We will walk around and discover the stunning views of the Gulf of Bothnia seen from 2 little peninsulas, we see little boats moored along the shore, the remains of a blast furnace that is in ruins with trees growing all the way on top… from the end of 18th century. We walk along a river and find an old typical Swedish granary : A Härbre. And even a rainbow will appear to make this spot truly : picture perfect. I found this magical place to sleep last August, while I was moving half of our belongings 3000km south and driving back north 3000 km in just 20 days. As the van was empty on the way back - north, I could sleep on a mattress in the back and use my camping gear for cooking and enjoying the views while doing so. Some spots also gave me the opportunity to explore the area a little, going for little walks to stretch my legs. This was one of them and I soooo wanted to share it with you today. Sounds interesting… keep reading and take in all the things I saw next. Life updates below the photos.

Today’s photographic selection will be of 28 PHOTOGRAPHS Date : 21 and 22 August 2025 The Photographs in this post are taken with my iPhone. I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are experiencing my adventures on this walk to #discover everything what I saw, like the little #details seen through my eyes.

Location of the sleeping spot in Långvind Sweden 🇸🇪 we find on the following screenshots of Google Maps : IMG_6619.jpeg The little van in the top is the large peninsula, the little van in the bottom is the little peninsula where I slept.

How it all started this day in August.

I arrived at the largest peninsula around 17:20h and had driven about 400km that day. That is about the limit I can do in one day (read with several breaks in between), more than that my body won’t allow me. Getting out of Beth the Van to finally stretch the legs a bit. We look around us and see the following view to the right. IMG_3142.jpeg

Let’s walk a bit further to the end of the peninsula. We see a calm almost mirror like surface. On our left there are several large camper vans. I avoid taking photos of them for their privacy. IMG_3143.jpeg

We discover a compost toilet on one side of the parking area on this peninsula. That is very welcome as Beth is not converted as a camper, she is so far still a working van. Fully empty inside.

Let’s walk around to discover what I saw on the drive to the end of the road. We see these very old buildings. IMG_8031.jpeg

This is a Härbre, an old storage building in Sweden. More information about them in Swedish you can read here: Swedish Härbre and in English you can find here: Wat is a harbre. IMG_3144.jpeg

Walking further we reach a little wooden bridge. On it we see a little river running towards the Gulf of Bothnia. The large sea on the right of Sweden. IMG_3145.jpeg

The opposite side. IMG_3147.jpeg

It has some sturdy beams going over it. I think even Beth can drive over as I have a plan… 😎 that is what I am checking out right now. Let me tell more about it in a little bit as we walk further. IMG_8020.jpeg

After a little while I discover some ruins. IMG_3148.jpeg

Next to them a sign in Swedish telling us about the blast furnace and its history. Used for iron production many many moons ago. IMG_3149.jpeg

Shall we walk over the boards to see more of it? Great, lets go! IMG_3150.jpeg

A lot is covered in thick bushes and trees growing all over it. IMG_3151.jpeg

A little bit further almost bushwhacking we see the top of the furnace. IMG_3153.jpeg

The funny thing… all the way up there, trees are growing on top of the ruins. IMG_3154.jpeg

I reached now a second peninsula. Much smaller one with less camper vans. The views from here are stunning. Do you see Beth? On the other side on the larger peninsula. IMG_3156.jpeg

Let me zoom in a bit. Beth is the little working van on the left. I parked a bit away from all the others that are neatly parked next to each other haha 😂 For the observant viewer, do you see the rainbow 🌈 too? IMG_3157.jpeg

Looking out further away. The clouds are definitely turning and it rains in the distance. IMG_3158.jpeg

Walking towards the other side of this cute and much calmer little peninsula we see these views. My favourite photo of the day. What a view. I wouldn’t mind waking up here. My plan is evolving at this point. 😉 IMG_3160.jpeg

Just look at it. Soooo beautiful this area. IMG_3162.jpeg

I walk a bit further, only 2 other camper vans. But none on the right side of the little peninsula. Beth would be a perfect fit here. Away from all… also a bit more protected from the sea winds that are on the other peninsula. Here there are trees… no toilet though, but an early morning walk will be fine to the other side. Can you guess what I will do in a little bit? IMG_3163.jpeg

Not yet… ok, no worries I tell you… soon haha Let’s go and check out the rainbow 🌈 it is developing nicely and I can’t let this opportunity go by. As it is right behind Beth. In the far far distance. IMG_3165.jpeg

Now my plan… I did go and I drove Beth to the little peninsula. To camp here for the night… between the trees, away from the harsh wind and rain. Away from all the other camper vans. Enjoying the silence and nature. Some stunning views all around us. I slept really well.

The next morning 22 august I walked of course to the only compost toilet in the area, on the larger peninsula… the way we walked yesterday. The morning views:
IMG_3174.jpeg

The sun is doing her best to break through. I take a photo towards the smaller peninsula. We see more camper vans arrived during the night. But… not where I parked. You can’t even see Beth as my little spot is on the other side of the peninsula behind the trees. IMG_3175.jpeg

I capture some of my best photos here this morning. The little boats, the reflections… the details. I will turn them one day into prints. I can only give you today a glimpse of them. IMG_3178.jpeg

I zoom in on the little peninsula. So cute… this is such a stunning area to camp even for longer. This is my second stay while driving long distances south or north, crossing many countries. IMG_3180.jpeg

We walk to the end of the larger peninsula. Enjoying the far views. IMG_3181.jpeg

I capture some purple flowers, they are purple-loosestrife. You find more information here: Purple loosestrife. What a picture perfect spot. I took many photos as you can imagine. IMG_3182.jpeg

Back at Beth the van, I get a little box… and walk a few meters to pick raspberries, red currants and black berries. They are all around us here on the back side of this little peninsula, one just needs to look. They will be nice with breakfast… normally a cappuccino will do for me. But… I had to pick these little wonders of nature and enjoy them. IMG_3189.jpeg

My views… just perfect. Don’t you think? IMG_3190.jpeg

The next day I reached my little wooden cabin. And now: I am still packing boxes, as me getting badly sick early September delayed a lot of things. I wanted to move out before the winter reaches the far… far north. I’m not fully recovered yet as the antibiotics caused some allergic reactions and bad side effects. But getting there… slowly…

I have 12 more boxes to pack and 20 items to wrap. Then load up Beth again (I hope all fits 🤞🏻🤞🏻) and in a few weeks we drive over 3500km south again (in October). This time… no accommodations. I got myself a little tent 🏕️ and we sleep next to Beth until we unload her at a storage unit 9 days later. Can’t wait for that adventure, especially as last night we had the first frost here and all was white when I got up at 6:00h in the morning. More adventure to come, stay tuned!

…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends. Join me next time for more updates, adventures, #stories and photographs. Even my own artworks, once in a while, will come by. Thank you so much for looking, and reading.
