Good afternoon, DIY Hub friends, how are you? I hope you are all doing well and enjoying a peaceful Saturday afternoon. From this corner of the Southern Hemisphere, more than two years after I first made them, I bring you my recipe for natural soaps once again.

Buenas tardes amigos de DIY Hub, ¿cómo están? Espero que todos muy bien y reciban esta tarde de sábado con tranquilidad, por este rincón del hemisferio Sur, les traigo a más de dos años de la primera vez que los hice, nuevamente mi receta de Jabones Naturales.
More than a recipe, it's a series of steps. The good thing is that I use cannabis scraps, but you can use any aromatic plant, or even look for one that has healing properties for your skin. Perhaps what makes them my own classic is that there are usually a lot of cannabis leaves left over, and being able to put them to use seems like a good way to contribute to organic waste reduction as well.

Más que una receta son una seguidilla de pasos, lo bueno es que yo en mi caso uso restos de cannabis, pero puedes usar cualquier planta aromática, o incluso buscar la que tenga propiedades curativas para tu piel. Quizás lo que hace que sean mi propio clásico, es que suele haber mucho resto de hojas de cannabis y poder darle un uso me parece una buena manera de colaborar con el desecho orgánico también.
I still have to try it with lavender, but I know that oats and chamomile work very well too. What we're going to need is 1 kilo of glycerin. I use one that is colorless and unscented, so the final result is a product of the material and its own color, without adding anything else.

Aún tengo pendiente probar con lavanda, pero sé que con avena y manzanilla quedan muy bien también. Lo que vamos a necesitar es 1 kilo de glicerina, yo uso una sin color y sin aroma, entonces todo en el resultado final es producto del material y su propio color, sin añadir nada.
The first time I made them, I admit that my inexperience gave me a rush of energy from having achieved it, but I didn't have enough molds or experience to know how to calculate times or quantities. This time I made sure I had several more molds.

La primera vez que los hice, admito que mi inexperiencia me dio un subidón de energía de haberlo logrado, pero no tenía los suficientes moldes, ni experiencia para saber calcular tiempos, o cantidades. Esta vez me aseguré de tener varios moldes más.

Then we begin, with the glycerin cut on one side, to melt slowly. I always use the same pot, which always has traces of soap made in the past at the bottom, and I don't think it's necessary to clean it so much. I remove the largest and most annoying traces and make sure that the new batches contain more than I will use and not too much excess.

Entonces comenzamos, la glicerina cortada por un lado, a derretir lentamente. Yo sigo usando siempre la misma olla donde de fondo siempre quedan restos de jabones realizados en el pasado, y no me parece necesario limpiarlo tanto, quito los restos más grandes y molestos y me aseguro que las nuevas partidas contengan más cantidad de lo que usaré y no mucho en exceso.
We take our chosen plant material, chop it up finely, and place it in a double boiler to heat with a little oil. The idea is that the properties are released during this process, so we trust that it will work. There's not much to lose either; it's always better than factory-made, perfumed soap, at least my skin appreciates it.

Tomamos nuestro material vegetal elegido, y procuramos picarlo bien, y lo colocamos en baño maría a calentar con un poco de aceite, la idea es que las propiedades se van desprendiendo en este procedimiento, así que confiamos. Tampoco hay mucho que perder, siempre es mejor jabón que uno comprado y perfumado en una fábrica, al menos mi piel lo agradece.
Once we have both containers with the necessary ingredients ready, one with melted glycerin and the other with the plant material, we combine them and let them heat up and melt for a while longer. This part even generates a little foam. I never knew whether to remove it or leave it, so I try to use a little, but not too much.

Una vez que tenemos ambos recipientes con el material necesario listo, uno con glicerina derretida y el otro con el material vegetal, los juntamos y dejamos que por otro rato entren en calor y se fundan, incluso genera un poco de espuma esta parte. Nunca supe bien si hay que quitar eso o dejarlo, así que intento usar un poco, pero no demasiado.
The whole process usually takes me a few hours of heating and monitoring, but it's not a lot of work. Once everything is ready, the busiest part begins: filling our molds, letting them cool, unmolding them, and continuing. As I mentioned at the beginning, I made sure to have several different ones.

Todo el proceso suele llevarme algunas horas de calor y control pero no mucho trabajo. Una vez que todo está listo empieza el ritmo más ajetreado, empezar a rellenar nuestros moldes, dejar que se enfríen, desmoldar y continuar. Como les mencioné al principio,me aseguré de tener varios distintos.
I started by filling one of the molds and put them to cool. I handled everything carefully, trying not to make a mess and to be able to continue delicately. I took advantage of this relaxed time to keep the soap at the right temperature, otherwise it becomes difficult to pour.

Comencé llenando uno de los moldes, y los puse a enfriar, traté todo con cuidado, buscando no ensuciar el espacio y poder continuar con delicadeza. Aproveché este tiempo relajado para mantener con temperatura el jabón, sino se vuelve difícil de verter.
And so what I achieved was that, when I placed the last mold, the first one was already solid. I did the first demolding and they came out so well that I was able to continue at my pace. In less than 40 minutes, all the molds had finished cooling. I ended up with a total of 22 soaps of different sizes, and I think this technique improves with time and makes the process of creating soaps feel different, more enjoyable, and I can give some to the people I love.

Y así lo que logré es que, al colocar el último molde, el primero ya estuviese sólido. Hice el primer desmolde y salieron tan bien que pude continuar con mi ritmo. En menos de 40 minutos tenía todos los moldes terminando de enfriar. Salieron un total de 22 jabones de distintos tamaños y me parece que esta técnica mejora con el tiempo y hace que se sienta de otra manera, más gustoso el momento de crear jabones y poder regalarle algunos a la gente que quiero.
I hope you liked this project and found it useful. Remember that you can put any other vegetable inside, and that it is best to always leave some small pieces in, as they also act as natural exfoliants.
