It's raining here, and even though I don't like it, it's still winter and also the Santa Rosa storm season, so we have to put up with these last few cold days and wait for the change in the air that will bring us the best season, spring: the beautiful precursor to summer, which will be upon us before we know it. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. It's raining here. Today I bring you an appliqué that I promised and left unfinished many months ago. I hope you like it.

Buen lunes amigas de las agujas, aquí llueve y aunque no me guste, continua siendo invierno y también tormenta de Santa Rosa, por lo que toca bancar estos últimos fríos y poder ver el cambio de aire hacia lo que será la mejor temporada, la primavera: hermosa predecesora del verano que, cuando nos demos cuenta, ya estará sobre nosotros. Sin adelantarnos a las cosas, aquí llueve. Hoy les traigo un aplique que tenía prometido e inconcluso hace unos largos meses. Espero que les guste.
The last few times I set out to do embroidery for a new costume and to have two costumes that were as complete as possible, I said that I would love to fill one with things that are meaningful to me, or symbolic of music or popular struggles in my country. I was thinking about those ideas when I showed you the last video, or when I made the sequined hand emoji. They are still specific appliqués that I want to have on my costume, just like this number 7 that I'm bringing you today.

Las últimas veces que me propuse hacer bordados para un nuevo traje y poder tener dos trajes lo más completos posibles, fue que dije que me encantaría llenar uno de cosas significativas sobre mi persona, o simbólicas musicales o de lucha popular de mi país. En esas ideas andaba cuando les mostré el video pasado, o cuando hice el emoji de la manito en lentejuelas, siguen siendo apliques específicos que quiero tener en mi traje, igual que este número 7 que traigo hoy.
When we first went to the rehearsal room, one of the girls commented that the number was her favorite, and the place began to have a beautiful vibe for us and for the group. At one point, there were seven of us who always went, and it seemed like a funny idea to make seven numbers 7, but then the number of people changed, and I was left with all of them unfinished, so I decided to finish just one of them, to have it finished for myself, and if anyone wants one, I have them started, without the white background, the whole number in black is already embroidered. Anyway, it was a project that was going to take a long time, so I clearly didn't rush it at the time, and today I have other projects that have my attention and my time, so I haven't decided to finish them, but I could give them away as they are.

Cuando fuimos por primera vez a la sala de ensayo, una de las chicas comentó que el número era su preferido, y el lugar empezó a tener una vibra hermosa para nosotros y para el grupo. En algun momento eramos 7 que ibamos siempre, y resultó una idea cómica hacer 7 numeros 7, pero luego cambiamos de cantidad de personas, y ya me quedaron todos sin terminar, asique decidí darle forma solo a uno de ellos, tenerlo terminado para mi, y si alguien quiere alguno, los tengo comenzados, sin el fondo blanco, todo el número en negro está ya bordado. En fin, un trabajo que iba a llevar mucho tiempo y por eso claramente no me apuré en su momento, y hoy más proyectos tienen mi atención y mis horas, así que tampoco me he decidido a terminarlos, pero podría regalarlos así.
The embroidery technique is always similar, but what was special in this case was making a complete border to then fill inwards, because I'm not very neat and I don't think I could do it line by line without skipping any spaces or changing the direction of the embroidery. It's something that just happens to me. I could be decisive and change it, but at the same time, it's a job I enjoy doing, so I don't want to be too strict with myself. I enjoy expressing myself as I see fit in my embroidery, without setting any limits or margins for myself, haha.

La técnica de bordado siempre continúa similar, lo especial en este caso fue hacer un borde completo para rellenar luego hacia adentro, porque yo no soy muy prolija y creo que no podría hacerlos línea tras línea, sin saltear ningún espacio, o cambiar de sentido el bordado. Es algo que simplemente me ocurre, podría ser determinante y cambiarlo, pero al mismo tiempo, es un trabajo que me gusta realizar, no quiero ser tan estricta conmigo misma. Disfruto expresarme como me sale en los bordados, sin marcarme algún límite o margen, jaja.

Something I really loved about this project was making the “screws” with these colorful plastic charms (in my case, one turquoise and one purple, the colors that were missing from my murga). As always, it ends up being a nod to myself, to those places or moments that have made me happy, and that I couldn't change or compare to anything else. My friends get together every Friday in room 7, and I like to go there to play the drums and toast, always to a carnival that is yet to come.

Algo que sí me encantó de este trabajo fue realizar los “tornillos” con estos dijes plásticos de colores (en mi caso, uno turquesa y uno violeta, los colores que faltaban agregar de mi murga) Termina siendo, como siempre, un guiño hacia mi misma, aquellos lugares o momentos que me han visto feliz, y que no podría cambiar ni compararlos con nada. Mis amigos se reúnen todos los viernes en la sala 7, y ahí me gusta ir a hacer sonar los bombos y brindar, siempre por un carnaval que está por venir.
I'll sign off without much more to tell you. The work was a bit tiring because of the time it took to fill it, but very simple because there were no color changes to make. I'm beginning to understand that each of the different appliqués has a different level of difficulty and attention. And I'm also learning to enjoy that even and uniform finish. I don't suffer from OCD, but I imagine that's how satisfying it must feel when you see something meet the standards, right? Even the knots behind were quite neat. Now all that's left is to glue the reinforcement and have the new suit ready to put on. I'll also leave you with a picture of the rehearsal room door. Me despido sin mucho más que contarles, el trabajo fue algo cansador por el tiempo que llevó llenarlo, pero muy simple porque no había que hacer cambios de color. Empiezo a entender que cada uno de los distintos apliques tiene un nivel distinto de dificultad y de atención. Y aprendiendo también a disfrutar ese acabado parejo y uniforme, yo no sufro ningún TOC, pero imagino que así de satisfactorio debe sentirse cuando ves algo cumplir con los estándares ¿no? Hasta los nudos detrás quedaron bastante prolijos, Ahora solo resta pegar el refuerzo y tener el nuevo traje para colocarlo. Les dejo también una imagen de la puerta de la sala de ensayo.
