Hoy decidí hacer una pausa. Cerré el portátil, me levanté del escritorio y simplemente me regalé un rato tranquila. A veces uno lo necesita… desconectarse un poquito y respirar.
Me preparé una taza de chocolate caliente (de esos que saben a hogar) y me senté a disfrutar los primeros bocadillos de alfajor que pruebo desde que llegué a Medellín. Y para hacer el momento aún más especial, venían en forma de corazón relleno de arequipe. No sé si fue la forma, el sabor, o el hecho de que estaba desconectando por fin, pero todo me supo a cariño.
Es increíble cómo algo tan simple puede hacerte sentir tan bien. A veces no se necesita mucho: solo parar, consentirse un poco y disfrutar el presente.
En Medellín, los alfajores suelen ser dulces compuestos por dos galletas unidas por un relleno de arequipe, a veces con un baño de chocolate o coco rallado en los bordes. Son un postre popular, fáciles de encontrar en pastelerías y tiendas de dulces.

Today I decided to take a break. I closed the laptop, got up from my desk and simply gave myself some quiet time. Sometimes you just need it... to disconnect a little bit and breathe.
I made myself a cup of hot chocolate (the kind that tastes like home) and sat down to enjoy the first alfajor sandwiches I've tasted since I arrived in Medellín. And to make the moment even more special, they came in the shape of a heart filled with arequipe. I don't know if it was the shape, the taste, or the fact that I was finally disconnecting, but it all tasted like love.
It's amazing how something so simple can make you feel so good. Sometimes you don't need much: just stop, pamper yourself a little and enjoy the present.
In Medellín, alfajores are usually sweets composed of two cookies joined by an arequipe filling, sometimes with a chocolate or shredded coconut coating on the edges. They are a popular dessert, easy to find in bakeries and candy stores.
