Depression is real. Anxiety can lead one into depression. We cannot deny these facts. However, there is a need to probe the root cause of this enemy of Joy.

Brother Eli has identified fear as one major cause of depression. Fear does not directly lead to depression. It develops anxiety in the mind, then metamorphoses into depression when left to take up space in one's consciousness.

As humans, there are a lot of things that trouble us. Most of which has to do with the cares of life.

If you ask me, I would say that there is no easier way out than to take the Bible's counsel for it. Our Lord Jesus Christ himself told us in Matthew 6:25

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

But is it that easy? Certainly not. But if we look at it critically, we would see that fear, anxieties, and worry dwell in the realm of out thoughts. That is why Christ says to “take no thought”.

What we think, and how we think matters. Our lives can only tilt or leap towards the direction of our thoughts.

Bro Eli suggest a powerful remedy which is to learn to accept the will of God. Using Lazarus as a case study. Our Lord Jesus Christ also did not have a materially luxurious life while He lived on earth. He set for us the pattern for a simple and godly living, not cumbered with false loads of care. We must stop listening to the world because Satan speaks to us through the voice of the flesh as aroused by the things we see and hear in the world.

Also, we must not fear death. It is the fate of all men whether rich or poor, young or old, male or female. As long as you are alive, death is certain for you. Don't let the fear of it rob you of a satisfying and meaningful life. Use your life, your time, your resources, your everything to serve God. It's the best thing to do.

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)

Thank you Brother Eli Soriano. The Word of God delivered in it's simplicity is more powerful than all the sugarcoated and verbose preachings of today's preachers.

The church is competing in material terms with the world which is further leading belivers astray, and into depression.

May God rescue His people. Amen.
