It's spring here in the Southern hemisphere, but winter is not keen to leave our shores! Many days start sunny with the promise of a real spring day, but then along come clouds and blustery, icy winds!
That does not stop me from exploring my new surroundings though.
I now live in a secure estate, getting in and out is not easy without the residents providing access codes, so I feel very safe. The speed limit inside the village is 25 km per hour, and yes, they do speed trapping! The internal roads are quiet with the slow-moving traffic, some up and down hills, and the gardens are beautifully kept. I see the odd resident getting around in golf carts, but most still lead busy lives and use their cars. I decided to keep mine, even though there is a bus and a privately operated transport service. A girl needs her independence while she's able! I will make use of the bus for longer distances.
Le Domaine was initially designed for the active over-fifties, but is now open to buyers of all ages. This model of the original village, done twenty-one years ago, is on display in the beautiful and well-appointed clubhouse.

Taking a walk to the Northern village where there's a recreation area with a pool, a gas and charcoal braai (barbeque), open to all residents, on a first-come, first-served basis. There's a lovely small lake with weavers actively building nests from the large trees. The free-standing cottages overlooking this tranquil area must come at a higher price. Many have solar panels, which is becoming almost a necessity for our country with its power outages.
I'm going to photo-bomb the sights of this area. There were people at the swimming pool and braai area, so I did not intrude. See the reflections in the lake.

I'm sure you notice just how green the vegetation is, despite it being the end of winter. Kwazulu-Natal is like this; known for its rolling green hills and colourful flowers.
A busy bee is enjoying the nectar from the Sour Fig flower. This plant also has medicinal properties.

The stately Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia) flower.

Back to the weavers 'village' where the 'guardian of the sentry' is keeping a watchful eye:)
Returning to the clubhouse to explore what's on offer downstairs, but firstly checking the view from the outside balcony of the restaurant.

There was an exercise class on the go in the gym downstairs, and aquarobics in the heated pool. I am very interested in booking a treatment in the health hydro, and am desperately in need of a decent haircut! These services, and more, are very affordable, especially designed to take care of the needs (and wants) of village residents. There is even a small medical centre with physiotherapists, doctors, basic nursing care, as well as other medical specialists visiting weekly. Ummm, like the audiologist, who I need to ~~hear~~ see.

There is a myriad of activities, many are free of charge. The pool table was occupied, and I did not want to intrude there either. Of course, there's a bowling green and tennis courts, with many clubs playing league games, much to the amusement of Bonginkosi, who works for me once a week. He chuckles when he sees the silvery oldies on the greens.
I'm looking forward to seeing shows at the outdoor amphitheatre. One thing's for sure, I'm not going to get bored here, now that I am finally officially in retirement; there's always something happening in this village!
