When I was a kid I used enjoy sci-fi movies, they usually fascinate me. Some of my favourite movies were predator and the alien series. Back then, I usually see alien as equivalent to monster and therefore they are always the bad guys. We see in movies how they attacks humans and how humans furiously fight for their lives.
Over the years, I have seen a couple of movies that somewhat shifted my view and have made me try to look from both perspectives. In some, we see humans invading their spaces and homes, while in some cases, they invade our homes. But in most cases, these two species simply don’t understand each other.
Although, aliens are always depicted to be a monster with weird and disgusting bodies, I don’t think that is what makes something alien. Alien should be something foreign, something that is different from us humans, in how we look and interact. Even as humans, we may look weird to aliens if there is any out there.
Although, I do believe there is a possibility of other planets with a different species or creatures living there. I mean anything is possible but deep down I don’t think there a possibility of such except in our imaginations. Yet again, anything is possible.
But if they were actually a habitable alien planet, a planet that supports life, would I be willing to stay here on earth and continue the same regular life, or be explorative and brave enough to relocate there?
Honestly, when I first saw this prompt. I thought to myself “how ridiculous is this? and why would anyone want to leave their home, not just their home to another country but to another planet?” but then again, even Earth itself doesn’t feel like home for some people.
I asked myself this question, ‘why does people even want to become an astronaut?’ There are some humans that have deep sense of curiosity, those who are adventurous and wants to explore the unknown.
But personally, I would totally choose to stay on earth. Firstly, I am not that explorative, I have less curiosity to satisfy, I don’t readily take risks. Most importantly, I haven’t even seen it all on earth that I want to go another planet?
Earth is just so beautiful, and I have only seen less than 0.1 % of it. The people in it are so diverse and complex. I see places online and I marvelled at how magnificent this planet is. It is amazing, the sky, the lands, the water falls, the seas, the mountains and the creatures thereof.. it is utterly incredible.
I am not tired of earth, if anything the earth is tired of me, ha. She is tired that I haven’t explored her yet, she has a lot to offer but I haven’t even been able see to them. It would be a shame for me, to leave this planet yet unexplored.
To some extent, I can understand how some people would say the earth is getting deteriorating, and the people therein are not making it any better. However, For me, I still choose to live here on earth, because wherever I go there’s always both cons and pros.
