Last April 28, 2025, we celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary with a little adventure that felt both simple and special. My husband and I, together with our son, decided to spend the day at “Blu Hotel” in the “City of Love” Tabaco City for a one-night staycation. It wasn't a grand out-of-town trip, but it turned out to be exactly what we needed, a break, laughter, and time together.

We left home around noon and hopped on a mini bus. The ride was short and pleasant, just about 30 to 45 minutes, and before we knew it, we were already in Tabaco City. Hunger hit us first, so we had a quick late lunch at McDonald's. My son, Reygan was so happy because of his favorite food that we ordered for him like fries and fried chicken with rice meal.

Afterwards, we took a "padyak" ride to the hotel since it was only a short distance from the city proper. Padyak is like a simple human-powered bicycle with a sidecar used for short-distance rides and it is commonly used in the Philippines especially in towns or cities like this for quick and affordable transportation. The ride itself felt like a throwback to simpler times, with fresh air and local sights passing by.

The moment we stepped inside our booked room, we were blown away! It was spacious and cozy, with a small living area, a kitchen, and best of all, a mini pool right next to the bed. That mini pool was exactly the main reason why we chose this hotel.

The setup instantly felt luxurious and intimate, perfect for our little family celebration. after resting for a while, we headed to the hotel's big outdoor pool. The afternoon sun was still warm, and we enjoyed swimming and splashing around together. It felt so refreshing and carefree.

By 6 p.m., our tummies started grumbling again, so we went out to buy dinner. Each of us had different cravings, so we ended up hopping between food chains such as Chowking, Domino's, and Mang Inasal. We also bought Pic-A chips. Back in our room, we laid out all the food like a mini feast and enjoyed it while laughing over our random choices.

The night did not end there. We changed back into our swimsuits and took a night dip in the private mini pool inside the room. There was something magical about the warm water, soft lights, and the quietness of the evening.

After that, we freshened up, snuggled into the bed, and scrolled through Netflix to find a movie. Watching together under the cozy blankets felt like the perfect ending to our wonderful day.

The next morning, we decided to have breakfast delivered to our room since our son was still asleep. We had Tapsilog and Eggs Benedict, with juice on the side. It was delicious and filling. Before we checkout at noon, we squeezed in one last swim, making sure we truly made the most of our stay.

On our way home, we stopped by a nearby church to pray and give thanks for 9 wonderful years of marriage, for the blessings we've received, and for a safe and happy trip. It wasn't a grand celebration, but it was deeply meaningful. Truly, joy is found in togetherness and simple moments. This anniversary staycation will definitely be one for the books.
