Hello my fellow hivers! Hello to the beautiful people of @bayanihive Community! Today is another day, and I will be sharing another blog to you all...

Last Sunday marked the 1st Death Anniversary of my father-in-law, so I went to Legazpi City. I woke up early and got myself ready since I still had to travel for almost an hour to the city. The morning was quiet and calm, and while preparing, I could not help but reflect on the memories and moments we had with him when he was still alive.

I made sure to dress neatly and packed everything I needed for the day. I know it would be a solemn and meaningful occasion for the whole family. I asked my father to drop me off at the van terminal that morning. We rode in our electric bike going to the terminal. When I arrived, there were still a few passengers missing, so I had to wait for the van to be filled before we could leave.

The waiting area was buzzing with small conversations, the sound of engines, and the occasional calls of the dispatcher announcing the trips. I sat quietly, watching people come and go. I was mentally preparing myself for the long ride ahead and the meaningful day that was waiting for us in the city.

And since I have motion sickness, I always make sure to bring along some essentials like masks, mint candies and a plastic bag, just in case I feel nauseous or end up vomiting during the trip. These small preparations have become my travel habit, helping me feel a little bit more at ease despite knowing the long ride ahead could be challenging. Finally, after 30-minute wait, the van was filled with passengers, and thankfully I managed to get a comfortable seat.

I arrived in the city after an hour and went straight ahead to my in-law’s house. The familiar place brought a sense of comfort, and I was glad to be there just early enough to spend more time with the family before the day’s activities began.

My husband and his siblings decided to just order food to share so no one would have to get tired of cooking. We had Pancit Malabon, Angel’s Pizza, roasted chicken, and Pepsi, a simple yet satisfying dishes that made our gathering feel warm and comforting.

We offered a heartfelt prayer for the first death anniversary, and afterward, we shared a simple yet meaningful meal together. It became an opportunity to talk, reminisce, and find comfort in each other’s company.

After spending some time catching up and talking, we went straight to the grave to pay our respects. The atmosphere was calm and reflective as we approached the cemetery. Each of us carrying or own silent thoughts and prayers. It was a simple yet meaningful moment, honoring his memory and showing that he is still very much remembered and loved. Forever gone but never forgotten in our hearts...

On our way home from the cemetery, we saw a breathtaking rainbow across the sky. It felt like a gentle reminder of hope and peace, a beautiful symbol that somehow made the day feel lighter despite the sadness of remembering a loved one.
