Splinterlands: Guild Brawl and Upgrading Gladiator Cards

@logen9f · 2025-09-25 00:03 · Olio di Balena

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Social Media Challenge! We have just concluded another guild brawl. In today's post, I will write about our battles, our rewards and upgrade my Gladiator card collection.

Brawl Performance

Our guild finished in the fourth rank, earning 118 Crowns we can spend on our guild building improvements.

My contribution was not as good today, winning four battles out of eight but I earned decent rewards. Each participating member of the guild earned 5600 Merits and 68 SPS.

Gladius Cases

I had over eighteen thousand Merits which I used to buy nine Gladius cases. Each pack contain five cards with one guaranteed rare or higher. This means I will have forty five new cards added to my deck. I can use them to upgrade some of my cards if I have enough copies.

I didn't get a single legendary out of the nine packs. However, there were several epic cards including two copies of Quora. I wish there were some legendary cards though, I wanted to upgrade some of them.

Upgrades

Bertrol Gobson

Bertrol Gobson goes to level six. He gains an important ability, Poison which increases his damage. He only needs two mana so he's great at Little League.

Katrelba Gobson

Katrelba Gobson is the strongest common card, maybe can even compete against legendary cards in terms of damage potential and abilities. She was upgraded to level six as well but only gained one health stat.

Palidon Rakk

Palidon Rakk is a card that I don't use that much. I can't remember ever using this card. The reason is there are a lot of better cards in the Earth splinter like Quora or the Gobsons. He gives me an option though like in rulesets where odd numbered cards only can be used. He got upgraded to level five, adding one health stat.

Orella Abadon

Orella Abadon is one of the best rare cards in my opinion. It can be argued he's the best rare card or Captain Katie who's also great. It's a tough choice for me but I'm happy to have both. Orella got upgraded to level four, giving him an extra health stat.

Sarius

Not as great as Captain Katie or Orella Abadon, Sarius is a good card in low mana battles. She only needs three mana but packs a lot of damage. She got upgraded to level five, gaining a strong Poison ability.

Alfredo

Similar to Sarius, Alfredo is not the best rare card but he's a great option in low mana battles. He only needs two mana to field in battle but his stats are decent. I upgraded him to level five where he gain the Close Range ability, increasing his utility since now he can do damage from the first position.

My Featured Battle

This battle involved the Super Sneak and Might Makes Right rulesets. I wasn't able to pick Quora because her attack is only two making her unavailable in this battle. I have a great replacement for her though. My team is composed of all melee units because of the Super Sneak ruleset. I also have only three members in the team because the max mana is only twenty one.

Halfling Refugee (tank)

The Halfling Refugee is a great tank for only one mana. His stats are great for such low mana. He deals three melee damage and has six health and three speed.

Fina Voxom (second position)

My Fina Voxom is a level two gold foil. She's the best gladiator card in my collection. Fina is a legendary Fire card and her stats and abilities are top notch. She deals four melee damage, has four speed and seven health. Her abilities increase her already insane damage potential. She has the Opportunity ability to hunt down low health enemy units that when eliminated triggers her Bloodlust further increasing her stats. She also has Piercing where her damage decreases health when she zeroes out the target's armor in an attack. Finally, her bloodline is elf giving her the Execute ability granted by the archon, Kaylia Silverleaf further increasing her damage potential.

Warborn Chieftain (rear position)

I debated whether to put the Warborn Chietain in first or last position. I decided to place him in the rear to guard against sneak attackers because of the Super Sneak ruleset. He has great defensive ability against melee attacks because he has Shield, decreasing physical damage by fifty per cent. His offense is also great dealing four melee attack and having four speed.

My opponent chose the Fire splinter to take advantage of the two armor stats granted by the Fire archon, Fithe Bladestone. His choice of gladiator card was Tatiana Blayde, a legendary neutral card. She has dual attack like Quora and her abilities complement her stats too. She has Close Range that allows her to utilize her ranged attack from the front line.

My team had the advantage. First off, I had three units against his two. My Halfling Refugee is a fodder but useful in his role while the other two strong attackers eliminate the enemy. I won the battle without losing a single unit.

Final Thoughts

I enjoy playing in brawls and looking forward to it every week. Guild Brawls strengthens our guild by earning Crowns, while also giving members personal rewards like Merits and SPS. As our guild earn Crowns, it can upgrade our buildings, unlocking better stores and enhancing barracks buffs that benefit all members. Being part of a guild also offers perks, such as discounted shop prices and earning boosts. If you’re not in a guild yet, join one and start enjoying these perks!
