Khe Ram, I think this place is one of my most visited river spots in Da Nang Province. This is a place close to my heart, every time I come here, I feel like I’m home. It’s an awesome spot to just relax and cool down inside the water from the hot weather in summer. In the beginning I would always go with fellow friends however at the moment whenever I need to feel reenergized and everybody else is busy, I go alone.
I love that this place is also not too far from the city. It is easy to go and come back the same day as it takes only about 1 hour to get there. If you decide to go to this place, you must not forget to stop before you get to the stream to buy some sugarcane juice. Just before you arrive you will see many sugarcane fields, the sugarcane sold in this area is super fresh and therefor delicious. Especially when visiting the river with friends we will also bring plenty of food to enjoy at the riverside.
When I’m at this place I like to sit inside the water, spot fishes and sometimes other animals, do some stone balancing or rock throwing/bouncing and just embrace mother nature. Depending on the season you will also see many butterflies. I have never seen so many butterflies together, it looks like a true fairytale land.

One Story Last time I went to Khe Ram, was about a week ago. This time I went alone but at the stream I was not alone. There were some men sitting together drinking BIA (beer). I went to my usual spot along the river where I could sit on a big rock and put my feet inside the water. I arrived around noon so before hitting the water I ate some food I had brought along. Then one of the men approached my spot with a fishing rod. He was trying to catch some fish. He greeted me and with the little English he knew he was able to ask me some questions. Suddenly, he started catching fish one after another, three in a row! He also invited me to drink some BIA but I refused because I actually don’t drink beer. After some time, it was time for me to get back home. The men that offered me beer before asked me again to please join him and his friends for one beer before I head back home, just one. This time I felt bad to say no, so I agreed instead, just one. He grapped me literally by the hand and guided me through the stream towards his buddies. The other fellows only were able to speak Vietnamese, so that is what they did. From time to time, I could catch a word I knew and reply with the little Vietnamese I know. They also offered me some food, some meat. Toi an chay, I said, which means I’m a vegetarian. One of the guys went away and came back with heaps of guava for me to enjoy. The first guava I tried was so tasty and sweet, different than the ones I buy from the local market in the city, probably organic. Once I managed to finish my beer, I thanked the lovely guys for their hospitality and drove back home.
