José Luis Perales ha revelado en varias entrevistas que ‘¿Y cómo es él?’ fue un encargo de otro famoso cantante español, Julio Iglesias, quien se acababa de separar de Isabel Preysler.
Por ello, el laureado cantante le pidió a Perales escribir una canción inspirada en ella. "Julio se acababa de separar y su exmujer, Isabel, se casaba con el Marqués de Griñón", explicó.
