We made it to October! Here's wishing all friends a happy and prosperous month. Oh and happy Hive power up day too.
Today is a special day in my country Nigeria. It's our independence day! ๐. So in the spirit of the celebration, I made this healthy and tasty fruit blend or specifically, smoothie. ๐
You know, you can never go wrong with smoothies - whether it's fruit-based like banana, mixed berries and yogurt, or all greens like cucumber, mint with lime juice or even protein-packed like banana, peanut butter and protein powder. All of these and more are nutrition packed and super tasty. Even more, smoothie is a great addition to diets especially when many of us do not meet up on the daily fruits and veggie recommendations.
I made this smoothie with just three ingredients - banana, avocado and groundnuts. The outcome was great and it tasted so yummy. It was also protein packed. This smoothie was exactly what my body needed at this time when I was experiencing dizziness, fatigue and constant headaches - which after a check, turned out to be symptoms of low blood pressure.
I got to know that the combination of banana, avocado, and groundnut as smoothie can be beneficial for managing low blood pressure and overall cardiovascular health due to the nutrients found in them; * Potassium from bananas * Fiber and antioxidants from avocados * Magnesium and healthy fats from groundnuts.
Having said that, let's prepare the smoothie.
Ingredients
-
2 sizeable banana fruit.
-
2 small sized avocado.
-
A cup of water. You can use more depending on how thick you want the smoothie to be. Cold water or ice cubes would be a great choice as they'd help retain the freshness of the fruits.
-
A handful and half of fresh cooked groundnut. You can equally use fried groundnut for it. I wanted to try something different and see how it would taste. I must confess, it didn't disappoint. Lol.
Prepping the ingredients
- Washing the fruits.
- The nuts were already washed before cooking.
Next
- Cutting the banana
- Scooping the avocado butter.
- Removing the nuts from the shell.
Here they are
Next is to blend
- The groundnut goes first. Ensure to add water for smooth blend.
- After that add the banana and avocado. Pour in the remaining water or ice cubes and then blend until a smooth paste is formed.
See how it looks
- Finally serve and enjoy.
I presume you might be wondering why I didn't add milk or yogurt to the smoothie. Well, I just needed a plant - based smoothie and it turned out just like I anticipated. Natural, tasty and nutritious. Simply yum and I enjoyed it. ๐
Just like other smoothies, this banana avocado smoothie can be taken any time of the day. It's good for the kids, adult and old alike. Most importantly it's for both vegans and non-vegans.
And if you're looking to gain weight, then this smoothie is a perfect dose for you. Lol.
I bet you'll love this fruit blend so do give it a try. And if you've tried this recipe or something similar before, do let me know too.
Thanks for coming around.
