Greetings, friends who love light and shadow. Today I'm here to show you a series of photographs I've had saved privately on my Facebook page; I don't remember sharing them before. These images, which I hold so dear, are a part of me. During my time at the Universidad de Oriente, in the center of Sucre, I made a habit of going after class to enjoy the sunset on San Luis Beach, just a few meters from the school.
Saludos, amigos amantes de las luces y sombras. Hoy vengo a mostrarles una serie de fotografías que he tenido guardadas de manera privada en mi red social de Facebook; no recuerdo haberlas compartido antes. Estas imágenes que guardo con tanto cariño son parte de mí; se me hizo costumbre durante mi paso por la Universidad de Oriente, en el núcleo de Sucre, ir después de clase a disfrutar del atardecer en playa San Luis, a escasos metros de la escuela.
Around 2010, I took these images of sunsets at Playa San Luis, located in Cumaná, Sucre state. I also have two images of murals created by Sucre-born artist Luis Caraballo in the gardens of this important university campus, which was attacked by criminals who destroyed the university buildings in 2019.
Por el año 2010 tomé estas imágenes, atardeceres de Playa San Luis, ubicada en Cumaná en el estado Sucre. También conservo dos imágenes de unos murales creados por el artista plástico sucrense, Luis Caraballo en los jardines de este importante claustro, que en 2019 fue asediado por delincuentes que destruyeron los espacios universitarios.

The photos were taken with a camera I don't even remember what it looked like, but it was a Nokia. This action is part of that desire to take this photographic exercise seriously, which many years later prompted me to study Social Communication, a program in which I developed in the audiovisual field, specifically in investigative journalism. But photography is an art that never stopped speaking, communicating, due to its direct way of expressing itself and capable of enriching the story, reaffirming the phrase "A picture is worth a thousand words," demonstrating the power of the image to communicate precisely and universally.
Las fotos fueron tomadas con una cámara que ni recuerdo cómo se era, pero era Nokia. Esta acción es parte de ese anhelo de tomarme en serio este ejercicio fotográfico que muchos años después me impulsó a estudiar Comunicación Social, carrera en la que me desarrollé en el campo audiovisual, específicamente en el periodismo de denuncia, pero la fotografía es un arte que no dejó de hablar, de comunicar, por su manera directa de expresar y que es capaz de enriquecer la historia, reafirmando la frase "Una imagen dice más que mil palabras", demostrando el poder de la imagen para comunicar de manera precisa y universal.
It's always a pleasure to share beautiful moments and experiences like these, and I'll say that Playa San Luis in Cumaná has the best sunsets in the world. Be happy.
