# Intro
El 12 de julio asistí a un evento por trabajo que resultó ser una experiencia de mucho provecho personal y profesional, porque estaba enmarcado en el Turismo y se llamó: VENEZUELA HABLA TURISMO ¿VERDAD O RETO?.
Se me había pasado por alto publicar sobre esta actividad, no porque no fuese importante para mí, sino porque voy rodando la programación de contenidos por algunos temas más recientes y lo había dejado pendiente.

On July 12, I attended a work event that turned out to be a very rewarding experience, both personally and professionally, because it was related to tourism and was called: VENEZUELA SPEAKS TOURISM: TRUTH OR DARE?
I had forgotten to post about this activity, not because it wasn't important to me, but because I've been focusing on more recent topics in my content programming and had left it pending.
El evento fue organizado por Ahete (Red de Turismo Sostenible) y Tiquirito Trails, así como contribuyeron muchas marcas. La casa anfitriona fue la Hacienda Santa Teresa.
En el evento estaban reunidas muchas personalizades que contribuyen a promocionar a nuestro país, tales como Valentina Quintero, Isaías Landaeta, entre muchas más personas.
Se presentarón proyectos para guiatura, agroturismo y otras propuestas de gran valor para reflexionar en común el futuro turístico del país.
Inciso: entre el público estuvo Katty Kanzler quien me parece una mujer genial promocionando la Colonia Tovar y el turismo en Venezuela.

The event brought together many personalities who contribute to promoting our country, such as Valentina Quintero, Isaías Landaeta, among many others.
Projects for guiding, agrotourism, and other valuable proposals were presented to reflect together on the future of tourism in the country.
Incidentally, Katty Kanzler was in the audience, who I think is a great woman promoting Colonia Tovar and tourism in Venezuela.
## Evento en desarrollo
El evento inició con la intervención de las marcas principales que contribuyeron a organizar el evento, se presentarón oportunidades de estudios en la Universidad Católica de Venezuela (UCAB), enmarcado en Principios básicos para Turismo de Desarrollo Sostenible y Guías de Turismo Sostenible.
Me gustó que para dar inicio al evento se realizó una dinámica sobre los sueños, algo asi como una "manifestación de sueños turísticos", eso me hizo recordar de sueños que escribía de niña cuando me sentía una loca soñadora, sentí que es posible retomarlos.
Luego comenzaron las presentaciones, cada una tuvo su propio formato, pero todas las personas debían orientar sus charlas hacia verdades y errores que les había desafiado su trayectoria y además comentar cómo lo superaron, por supuesto todo enmarcado en el turismo.
De las presentaciones que más me gustaron mucho tomo en cuenta a: Sorelia Franco, desde que se levantó de su asiento en el público la recuerdo cantanto, llevaba puesto un sombrero y subió al escenario. Ella habló sobre las viajeras 40 plus, se declaró como embajadora de los llanos y de Yaracuy (por cierto la tierra donde nací), eso me hizo conectar enseguida. Tiene una historia de mucha superación, es emotiva e inspiradora. ¿Pueden creer que en su presentación mostró este agradable dibujo animado sobre ella misma?

The event began with presentations by the main brands that helped organize the event, showcasing study opportunities at the Catholic University of Venezuela (UCAB), framed within the Basic Principles for Sustainable Tourism Development and Sustainable Tourism Guidelines.
I liked that the event began with an activity about dreams, something like a “manifestation of tourism dreams.” It reminded me of the dreams I wrote about as a child when I felt like a crazy dreamer, and I felt that it was possible to revisit them.
Then the presentations began. Each one had its own format, but everyone had to focus their talks on the truths and mistakes that had challenged them in their careers and also comment on how they overcame them, all within the framework of tourism, of course.
Of the presentations I liked the most, I would highlight the following: Sorelia Franco. From the moment she got up from her seat in the audience, I remember her singing. She was wearing a hat and went up on stage. She spoke about female travelers over 40 and declared herself an ambassador for the plains and Yaracuy (incidentally, the land where I was born), which immediately made me connect with her. She has a story of great overcoming, which is emotional and inspiring. Can you believe that in her presentation she showed this nice cartoon about herself?
También se conversó sobre la importancia del cacao en Venezuela, María Fernanda Di Giacobbe, quien presentó su experiencia desde el reconocimiento a cultivar, educar sobre el chocolate real, a valorar la riqueza del cacao para la economía, el turismo, la cultural, etc. Como es muy característico en ella, dio a probar a todo el público unas ricas minis tabletas de chocolate.
>The importance of cocoa in Venezuela was also discussed by María Fernanda Di Giacobbe, who shared her experience from recognition to cultivation, educating about real chocolate, and valuing the richness of cocoa for the economy, tourism, culture, etc. As is characteristic of her, she gave the audience a taste of delicious mini chocolate bars.
Hubo muchas presentaciones interesantes, hasta ese momento por ejemplo, no conocía a la aplicación Estei Venezuela, que fue presentada por su propio CEO Mauricio Mundó, me gustó la propuesta de democratizar el turismo mediante la reservación de hospedajes en Venezuela, de manera más accesible, aún no le he probado, pero lo tendré presente para futuros viajes. Por cierto, durante el coffee break del evento se dispuso de un mapa interactivo y una pizarra para señalar, escribir y trazar lazos en aquellos lugares donde soñábamos viajar.
>There were many interesting presentations. Until then, for example, I had not heard of the Estei Venezuela app, which was presented by its CEO, Mauricio Mundó. I liked the idea of democratizing tourism by making it easier to book accommodation in Venezuela. I haven't tried it yet, but I will keep it in mind for future trips. By the way, during the event's coffee break, there was an interactive map and a whiteboard for pointing, writing, and drawing lines to the places we dream of visiting.
Otras de las presentaciones que me encataron fue, la participación de Taller Neo, una propuesta ecológica para el reciclaje en Venezuela, ellos realizan muchos merch como lentes de sol, franelas, bolsos etc y esto me parece espectacular para promover la coherencia y disminuir nuestra huella ecológica.
Igualmente, estuvo Reinaldo Mijares de la experencia 100% San Agustín en Caracas, para quienes no saben es una localidad popular en la ciudad, donde las personas de la comunidad han logrado organizarse y realizar diversas actividades culturales y rutas turísticas que actualmente son muy atractivas, tanto para personas locales y de otros países.
En esta localidad hay que reconocer la resiliencia, organización y control que ha ayudado a disminuir los índices de violencia desde hace años.
>Another presentation that I loved was the participation of Taller Neo, an ecological proposal for recycling in Venezuela. They make a lot of merchandise such as sunglasses, T-shirts, bags, etc., and I think this is a great way to promote consistency and reduce our ecological footprint.
Reinaldo Mijares from the 100% San Agustín experience in Caracas was also there. For those who don't know, this is a popular neighborhood in the city where community members have managed to organize themselves and carry out various cultural activities and tourist routes that are currently very attractive to both locals and visitors from other countries.
In this neighborhood, we must recognize the resilience, organization, and control that have helped reduce violence rates for years.
Hubo algunas propuestas también muy interesantes como: Ecoaventura con Odimar López, quien habló de que la única opción en el turismo... es que debe ser sostenible. Su propuesta es en la Gran Sabana en Venezuela y su historia es simplemente encantadora, cuenta cómo evolucionó de ser una guía turística a dirigir su propio modelo de negocio.
>There were also some very interesting proposals, such as: Ecoadventure with Odimar López, who spoke about how the only option in tourism is that it must be sustainable. His proposal is in the Gran Sabana in Venezuela, and his story is simply charming. He recounts how he evolved from being a tour guide to running his own business model.
Este evento lo cerró Valentina Quintero por su amplia trayectoria en el sector. Tomé tambén nota de muchos de sus aportes y planteamentos con base en que:
a) "Venezuela algún día tiene que vivir del turismo": desde el sentido del arraigo, pero debe comenzar desde la voluntad de la ciudadanía por conocer al país.
b) "Es crucial evitar insesatez": es decir, hablar desde la verdad, visibilizar lo genuino y las bondades y promocionar el turismo con fundamentos sociohistóricos e inteligencia de la realidad.
Durante toda la mañana se desarrollaron estas presentaciones, se finalizó con preguntas y respuestas. Y durante la tarde realizamos un paseo por la Hacienda Santa Teresa del que hablé anteriormente aquí:

#### 💞 El Turismo desde el respeto y la corresponsabilidad:
La reflexión central del evento conectó profundamente conmigo: la necesidad de evitar la visión del turismo como una simple "observación de zoológico" de las comunidades locales, se debe respetar su dignidad y evitar el aprovechamiento de los lugares, reconocerles y escucharles.
Valentina enfatizó: "nadie quiere que entren a su casa y decirles cómo deben hacerse las cosas". Este principio subraya la urgencia de respetar los espacios y la autonomía de las personas, evitando cualquier intento de imposición cultural o social.
# 🌟 Compromiso Personal
Como aprendizaje fundamental, asumo el compromiso de entender y practicar el turismo desde su relevancia local. Esto implica:
* Tomar siempre en cuenta a las personas y la integridad de su cotidianidad.
* Valorar que lo que para la personas visitante es una experiencia extraordinaria, es la vida diaria de la comunidad y tiene un impacto diferente en sus vidas. Que incluso a veces les genera incomodidad.
* Priorizar el respeto por su ritmo y sus costumbres, sin menospreciar, sin juzgar y minimizar las bondades y adversidades que enfrentan, muchas veces podemos darle voz a injusticias y ayudarles sino tienen alcance.
* Hablar desde lo genuino, la honestidad y la coherencia de cada lugar, siempre tomando en cuenta sus protagonistas: las comunidades.

💞 Tourism based on respect and shared responsibility:
The central theme of the event resonated deeply with me: the need to avoid viewing tourism as simply “zoo observation” of local communities. Their dignity must be respected, exploitation of places must be avoided, and they must be recognized and listened to.
Valentina emphasized: “No one wants people coming into their home and telling them how to do things.” This principle underscores the urgency of respecting people's spaces and autonomy, avoiding any attempt at cultural or social imposition.
🌟 Personal Commitment
As a fundamental lesson, I am committed to understanding and practicing tourism from its local relevance. This implies:
-Always taking into account the people and the integrity of their daily lives.
-Appreciating that what is an extraordinary experience for visitors is the daily life of the community and has a different impact on their lives. That it even sometimes makes them uncomfortable.
-Prioritizing respect for their pace and customs, without belittling, judging, or minimizing the benefits and adversities they face. We can often give voice to injustices and help them if we don't have the reach to do so.
-Speaking from the authenticity, honesty, and consistency of each place, always taking into account its protagonists: the communities.
### 🚀Una Meta en el Horizonte: Recorrer toda Venezuela
Mi pasión por viajar se mantiene firme, y mi meta personal de recorrer Venezuela sigue en marcha. A pesar de los muchos lugares que aún me quedan por explorar, avanzo con determinación, paso a paso, en la consecución de este grandioso objetivo.
Finalmente, reafirmo mi convicción de que el impulso y la promoción del turismo en Venezuela son una corresponsabilidad que concierne a todos los sectores del país, tanto públicos y privados, pero principalmente de la población, desde la conciencia, respaldo y cuidado por todos los espacios, necesitamos siempre dejar los lugares mejor que los encontramos y preservar la naturaleza para las futuras generaciones.

My passion for traveling remains strong, and my personal goal of traveling throughout Venezuela is still on track. Despite the many places I still have yet to explore, I am moving forward with determination, step by step, in pursuit of this great goal.
Finally, I reaffirm my conviction that promoting tourism in Venezuela is a shared responsibility that concerns all sectors of the country, both public and private, but mainly the population. Through awareness, support, and care for all spaces, we must always leave places better than we found them and preserve nature for future generations.
