Hallo liebe Community, um die Mittagszeit war es dann also endlich soweit und wir konnten das Changing of the Guards also den Wachwechsel beobachten. Es hatte sich schon eine beachtliche Menschenmenge versammelt als es auch schon los ging. Natürlich mit allem drum und dran wie man sich das so vorstellt, mit Salutieren, Gewehr präsentieren und Marschieren in Reih und Glied. Ein bißchen Trommeln durfte auch nicht fehlen, versteht sich von selbst. Alles in allem aber sehr interessant das mal mit angesehen zu haben. Ich fragte mich nur, ob es auch so interssant für die "normalen" Polizisten war, die den Platz für die Zeremonie absperren mussten. Und das müssen die jeden Tag machen, zusätzlich zu ihrer normalen Arbeit, also Verbrecher jagen und so :-)
Als sich die Menschenmenge dann kangsam auflöste gingen auch wir weiter und wieder in Richtung "Neustadt" und Casino. Auf dem Weg dorthin liefen wir wieder über die Rennstrecke der Formel 1 und ich ließe es mir nicht nehmen die Pole Position Startplatz 1 mit Ziellinie zu fotografieren. Dann von hier in die Rechtskurve und die gerade hinauf mit Blick auf den Hafen. Für Plätze auf diesen Balkonen werden zum Rennen horrende Preise bezahlt aber Geld spielt ja hier in Monaco eine untergeordnete Rolle, man hat es einfach.
Oben angekommen standen wir dann vor dem berühmten Casino von Monaco. Und konnten die Autos bestaunen, die in so gut wie jedem Bericht über Monaco vor dem Casino ankommen und abfahren. Ein blauer Rolls Royce SUV mit Nummernschild aus Dubai mit der Nummer 54 fuhr gerade ab, nachdem 2 ältere Damen eingestiegen waren. Dazu muss man sagen, dass vermutlich das Nummernschild teurer war als das gesamte Auto, denn in Dubai kosten niedrige oder ausgefallene Nummern richtig viel Geld. So kostete zuletzt das Kennzeichen Dubai 1 ca. unglaubliche 14 Millionen Dollar.
Auch die vielen Ferrari und Lamborghini hier waren eine wahre Augenweise und sicherlich auch ein Ohrenschmaus, wenn die Motoren anliefen. Ganz besonders angetan hatte es mir ein alter Aston Martin, ein James Bond Auto also. Einfach wunderschön. Nachdem wir uns satt gesehen hatten, besuchten wir noch die wohl berühmteste Kurve der Formel 1, wo die Autos mehr oder weniger im Schritttempo hoch und runter fuhren, diese Kurve will einfach jeder mal gefahren haben und so ist es recht voll dort. Beim Hotel nebenan stand gerade der Bus vom Fußballverein AS Monaco, der die Fußballer dann zum Heimspiel ins Nahe Stadion brachte.
Nach dem anstrengenden Tag liefen wir dann durch einen schönen ruhigen Park zurück zum Bahnhof und fuhren wieder die 2 Stationen nach Villefranche Sur Mer zurück. Das war dann unser Monaco Besuch gewesen und es war wirklich schön, kann ich jedem weiterempfehlen sich das mal anzuschauen. Am Abend sahen wir noch unseren neuen Mitbewohner, der es sich an der Decke unserer Veranda gemütlich gemacht hatte, ein Gekko. Der und auch sein Papa oder seine Mama sollten uns von nun an den ganzen Urlaub erhalten bleiben und sie besuchten uns jeden Abend, wenn es dunkel wurde.

Hello dear community, Around midday, the time had finally come and we were able to watch the Changing of the Guards. A considerable crowd had already gathered when it began. Of course, with all the trimmings you'd expect, including saluting, presenting rifles, and marching in line. A bit of drumming couldn't be missed, of course. All in all, it was very interesting to see it. I just wondered if it was as interesting for the "regular" police officers who had to cordon off the area for the ceremony. And they have to do that every day, in addition to their normal work, chasing criminals and so on :-)
As the crowd slowly dispersed, we continued on, heading back toward "Neustadt" and the casino. On the way there, we walked across the Formula 1 race track again, and I couldn't resist taking a photo of the pole position (starting position 1) and the finish line. Then from here into the right-hand bend and the straight up with a view of the harbor. Seats on these balconies are paid exorbitantly for the race, but money plays a secondary role here in Monaco; you simply have it.
Once we reached the top, we stood in front of the famous Monaco Casino. And we were able to marvel at the cars that arrive and depart in front of the casino in almost every report about Monaco. A blue Rolls-Royce SUV with a Dubai license plate number 54 was just leaving after two elderly ladies had gotten in. It must be said that the license plate was probably more expensive than the entire car, because in Dubai, low-priced or unusual license plates cost a lot of money. The last license plate, Dubai 1, cost an incredible $14 million.
The many Ferraris and Lamborghinis here were also a real feast for the eyes and certainly a feast for the ears when their engines started up. I was particularly taken with an old Aston Martin, a James Bond car in other words. Simply beautiful. After we'd had our fill of the view, we visited what is probably the most famous Formula 1 corner, where the cars drove up and down more or less at walking pace. Everyone wants to drive this corner at least once, so it's quite crowded there. The bus from the AS Monaco football club was parked next door to the hotel, taking the players to their home game at the nearby stadium.
After the exhausting day, we walked through a beautiful, quiet park back to the train station and took the two stops back to Villefranche-sur-Mer. That was our visit to Monaco, and it was truly beautiful. I can recommend everyone to check it out. That evening, we saw our new roommate, a gecko, who had made himself comfortable on the ceiling of our veranda. He and his mom and dad would stay with us for the entire vacation from now on, and they visited us every evening when it got dark.
