Here is a small collection I want to share with you. This collection is generated in a fast visit of a building terrace. That day I wanted to study the lines, the reflections, and how they can change the ordinary into something a little different. Black and white felt sketchy but still natural, highlighting how the space is filled by lines. Also it was interesting to explore how our life blends in with the lines.

I remember walking slowly in that terrace, almost like a crazy guy bending towards the glass surfaces, looking through them, looking straight into the bodies, watching the security guard from the side... The reflections created new images on top of the real ones. Sometimes I didn’t know if I was photographing people, or their shadows, or just a mixture of both. In some of the frames I liked the clarity contrast as some figures were sharp and some were blurred.

The lines of the architecture gave me a clear guide, framing as well as border line between figures and space. Long walkways, vertical columns, and repeating patterns... These lines were like a stage where the reflections could play. I liked how the figures, when reflected, became stretched, blurred, or distorted. The walls of glass became like splashes of personalities, constantly moving, depending on where I look.

One of my favorite moments was on the stairs. Number 3 and 4. People were going up and down, but through the glass, they looked like ghosts crossing each other or walking on separated worlds but projected on the other. The cross hand railing created dynamic feeling against vertical and horizontal lines. I tried to balance them, almost like arranging pieces of a puzzle. Or composing a maze structure. Blurry figures made me think about transient nature of life.

I also noticed the boundary hidden in reflections. When I saw someone walking, I could also see their shadow walking behind the glass, but at a slightly different form. It was like seeing two versions of the same person at once. I kept pressing the shutter, hoping to catch a meaningful composition.

In the last two photographs, I found more order. The long walkway, the view of the water outside, and the repeating posts along the glass made strong guiding lines. Here, the people became small figures inside a much bigger order.

I couldn't plan in detail, but I did my best at that time. I approached from different angles to various surfaces and I observed how people were moving in the space. I used the guiding lines to direct the viewer's eye. It was fun and at the same time a serious exercise.

All the best...
