I guess when you’re reflecting too much on life, sometimes instead of helping you gain clarity, you end up seeing too many layers of it. But one thing for sure is that I am getting better at combating those. The other day, I went outside and went around the main city center just to shake off my own worries.
This city boasts its red and green color. For locals these two colors symbolizes a spiritually but also deep rooted tradition. There’s a good blend of religiosity in this city which develops its own identity. This water tower built by the Dutch back in the days is one of the landmarks where these colors are visible.
When people around here showcase their neighborhood, I am always in awe of the beautiful architecture and how classic some of its buildings are.
Where I am from, this water tower is as beautiful as you can get. I suppose, maintenance is something that we lack over here. When something is well-maintained, it would be timeless and still great to look at.
Another place that has been my favorite spot is definitely the square. The public square offers a few things to check and explore. They have pigeon houses that are pretty well-maintained. I walked along the pavement exploring the place and how it’s now actually an attraction on its own. I guess it's a must-visit to just lounge around and take pictures.
I saw in many countries, typically their public square is vibrant. Over here, that is long gone because everyone prefers a cleaner area where they can enjoy the space without too many people trying to sell them something. So it’s why it’s that empty. This wasn’t the case when I was a kid.
There were many snacks sellers and it’s such a vibrant place to be and a great time to spend time every Sunday or the weekend. Now it’s just pretty empty and without a lot of things to see than the mosque.
Oh, if yesterday I shared some pictures of blooming pink tabebuai, today let me show you the white ones that are as beautiful as the pink ones on my previous image collections.
Anyhow, it’s late where I am at but I’ll get back to y’all tomorrow. See you around everyone!
