The Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear is a follow up work from Eat, Pray, Love, one of Gilbert’s sensational novels. This one in particular is like learning the ins and outs from how she writes Eat, Pray, Love. It blends memoir, personal development and even some motivational aspects to it that will encourage you to be more creative without having to fear anything.

Fear shouldn’t have a room in your creative pursuits, that’s basically is the core message of this book.

The premise is straightforward. It’s almost like reading a blog from your truly favorite author and they give you an insight on how to write better, hone your creativity and live more creatively. *The Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear* is a lot less technical on how to be a better writer, rather it hooks you to experience Gilbert’s life along with her creative endeavors and pursuits. She is inviting you to look into the people she encountered and interacted with. So, as a reader, you’ll do the heavy job of deciphering and learning from her experiences. As someone who remembers Eat, Pray, Love like it was some type of chant, I had immense pleasure reading this book. It feels so intimate as if she was inviting me with a nice cup of coffee, talking about all her experiences that led to where she was. Obviously, with a pang of jealousy that I too want to write like her where it just flows, like a normal conversational style and so animated. Just like Eat, Pray, Love, *The Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear ,*has that ability to take your hands into a pleasant journey and make you remember every interaction that she did. She has a way with words and those words become alive, almost as if each of them was sprinkled with fairy dust. I might be exaggerating though but I do love her style and wished to follow her trails of writing so animated, vivid, and conversational like. This book was like the key to understanding her writing style and to learn to be more creative. I am not sure how many of you have read Eat, Pray, Love but that to me is the top 5 of my most “ what made me” a person today. Kids these days call it some type of delulu love story but I am hugely shaped by that story and I believe in the idea that people come into our life through some cosmic alignment where they encounter each other because they’re just ready and whole as a person or *maybe not* and they’re just there to teach you some lesson. But that novel has had so much impact in the way I write and expressed myself. So, that’s why I have a special place for this book too as this one was more like, " come see how I write that novel" And let me share some secrets, back in the day I tried to mimic her writing style. But it turned out so drab. The thing is, I was creative but had so much fear. One in particular, the fear of being unoriginal. Gilbert also discusses in this book about the fear of being unoriginal. Needless to say, that was like a wake up call. Somebody out there has probably written things I did, did the things I did,but that was their point of view, not mine. There are many instances where certain ideas are repeated but we only remember those who popularized it because they made it feel like it’s authentic hence people see it as original. Circling back to it all, now I have about 0,01% fear of being so unoriginal. Once I finished reading the book which didn't take me long, just an overnight read of 192 pages, I was just fully immersed and made me want to actually sit down, write a review as I am currently creatively charged and highly inspired. If you’re feeling the same way I do where you have these creative streaks, The Big Magic will just push you to try a lot of newer possibilities and venture out from your fear and embrace a more creative life.
