What was Olympics like 2500 years ago? (Assassin's Creedy Odyssey 4K HDR 60FPS)

In Assassin's Creed Odyssey (story set in 431-422 BC), the main character Kassandra was asked to represent Sparta in the Olympics, and if she didn't win then she would be declined Spartan citizenship. This brought up an interesting point - which sports existed 2500 years ago? For example, tennis only has over a hundred years of history.

It turned out that Pankration was the sport that Kassandra was asked to participate in. I looked up on Google and Pankration was actually introduced into the Greek Olympic Games in 648 BC, so it makes sense! Learning a bit of history while playing this game for sure. This sport was very similar to MMA, as you were allowed to use a mixture of boxing and wrestling techniques.

During the event I noticed that all of my equipment and swords was taken away, so I had to use just my fist and dodge. Interesting I was still allowed to parry (with my fists) so with some good timing it was quite easy to win. You can see at the end of the video Kassandra was crowned Olympic champion.
