Today I want to tell you about a series I found on Netflix. Even though it's been in the catalog for a while, I only discovered it recently. I haven't seen all the seasons, but what I've seen so far has really caught my attention and kept me glued to the screen. >Hoy quiero hablarles de una serie que encontré en Netflix y que a pesar de que tiene ya algo de tiempo en el catálogo, yo la encontré hace poco. No he visto todas las temporadas, pero lo que he visto hasta ahora ha llamado muchísimo mi atención y me ha tenido atenta a la pantalla
Overview/Resumen
Alice is a young Tokyoite who lives with her brother and father, but everything points to her being a kind of hikikomori (this is what the Japanese call people who live confined to their homes, especially their rooms, playing video games, surfing the internet, or reading manga). Alice had no sense of responsibility and constantly went out with her friends in search of fun, but all this changed when, in the middle of a chase (the police were after them because they had caused a car crash at the famous Shibuya intersection), the three take refuge in the subway station bathroom, but when they decide to leave, they realize that everyone has disappeared. It was as if only the three of them were left in the world. However, they soon discover that they are part of a macabre game in which their lives are in constant danger.
Alice es un joven tokiota que vive con su hermano y su padre, pero todo apunta a que es una especie de hikikomori (es así como los japoneses llaman a la gente que vive confinada en su casa, en especial su habitación, jugando videojuegos, navegando por internet o leyendo mangas) Alice no tenía sentido de la responsabilidad y constantemente se iba con sus amigos a buscar diversión, pero todo esto cambió cuando, en medio de una persecución (la policía iba detrás de ellos porque habían causado un choque de autos en el famoso cruce de Shibuya), los tres se refugian en el baño de la estación del metro, pero cuando deciden salir se dan cuenta que todo el mundo desapareció, era como si solo quedaran ellos tres en el mundo, sin embargo luego comprueban que son parte de un juego macabro en el que su vida está en constante riesgo.

The story is so interesting that it keeps me on my toes the whole time, making guesses in my mind, but best of all, it's not predictable at all, so it's hard to get it right when you try to figure out the characters' moves in each game, and that's something that really excites me. Of course, nothing can be perfect, so one negative thing I have to say about it is that there are some scenes or events that are hard to believe, such as the fact that Niragi survived the burns and even the fall from a rooftop during the witch burning episode. It was really annoying to see that guy coming out like Droopy every other minute. >La historia es tan interesante que me mantiene alerta todo el tiempo, armando conjeturas en mi mente, pero lo mejor de todo es que no es predecible en lo absoluto, así que es difícil acertar cuando intentas descifrar los movimientos de los personajes en cada juego, y eso es algo que me emociona mucho. Claro, pero como nada puede ser perfecto algo negativo que tengo que decir al respecto es que hay algunas escenas o hechos que resultan difíciles de creer, como por ejemplo el hecho de que Niragi haya sobrevivido a las quemaduras y hasta la caída de una azotea, durante el episodio de la quema de brujas, en serio era molesto ver a ese tipo saliendo como Droopy a cada instante.
This brings me to my next point: character development. It is simply excellent and is most evident in the main characters, such as Alice and her friends, who went from being three irresponsible individuals to becoming aware of their own situation, even sacrificing themselves so that one of them could move on to the next level. In the following chapters, Alice evolves even further, becoming more responsible and aware of her surroundings. Usagi also learns to be less individualistic and more receptive.
Esto me lleva al siguiente punto, el desarrollo de personajes, es simplemente excelente y se evidencia más en los personajes principales como Alice y sus amigos, quienes pasaron de ser tres irresponsables a tomar consciencia de su propia situación, llegando incluso al sacrificio para que uno de ellos pudiera pasar al siguiente nivel. En los capítulos subsiguientes Alice evoluciona aún más, tornándose más responsable y consciente de su entorno. Usagi también aprende a ser menos individualista y más receptiva.
It is so unpredictable that we even find games where the opponents are not necessarily bad people, but simply beings who are fighting for their lives and who accept the results with grace, teaching the survivors a great lesson in life. In that same episode, we see a new game in which Alice is not involved (the prison game), and I liked it so much because of the great lesson it leaves the audience with: the importance of trust in human beings. We are social beings and therefore we must trust in order to coexist, But trust is fragile and can be broken very easily, which generates anxiety, discomfort, frustration, and ultimately chaos. In this game, it was even a matter of life and death.
Es tan impredecible que incluso llegamos a encontrar juegos donde los contrincantes no son necesariamente malas personas, sino simplemente seres que están luchando por sus vidas y que aceptan los resultados con gallardía, dando una gran lección de vida a los sobrevivientes. En ese mismo episodio vemos un nuevo juego en el que Alice no está involucrado (el de la cárcel) y me gustó tanto por la gran enseñanza que deja en la audiencia, se trata de la importancia que tiene la confianza en los seres humanos, somos seres sociables y por ende debemos confiar para poder coexistir, pero la confianza es frágil y se puede romper muy fácilmente, lo cuál genera ansiedad, incomodidad, frustración y finalmente el caos, en este juego era incluso un asunto de vida o muerte.
Something I must mention is the setting. The series is so well done artistically, cinematographically, and in terms of set design that it really seems as if the characters are moving within a dystopian universe. It is especially amazing to see the Shibuya crossing, which is normally so busy, completely deserted. And, of course, I would like to applaud the characterization work because most of the characters are identical to their manga counterparts.
Algo que tengo que mencionar obligatoriamente es la ambientación, la serie está tan bien lograda a nivel artístico, fotográfico y en materia de escenografía que realmente pareciera que los personajes se mueven dentro de un universo distópico, en especial resulta asombroso ver completamente desolado el cruce de Shibuya que normalmente es tan concurrido, y por supuesto me gustaría ovacionar el trabajo de caracterización porque la mayoría de los personajes son idénticos a sus homónimos del manga.
The series is not only made to entertain but also to reflect on many things, especially how we live our lives today, overlooking many details that would undoubtedly be indispensable when you definitely lose everything. It is also made to keep your brain active, even when you are not watching the series, because it is inevitable to start thinking about the thousands of reasons why the characters got there or how they could return to the real world. So I highly recommend it, whether you like stories about parallel or dystopian worlds or not, because I'm sure you'll really enjoy it. Thank you for allowing me to share my opinion.
La serie no solo está hecha para entretener sino para reflexionar acerca de muchas cosas, pero en especial acerca de como vivimos la vida actualmente, pasando desapercibidos muchos detalles que sin dudas serían indispensables cuando definitivamente lo pierdes todo, pero también está hecha para mantener activo tu cerebro, incluso cuando no estás viendo la serie, porque es inevitable ponerse a pensar en las miles de razones por las cuales los personajes llegaron allí o como podrían retornar al mundo real. Así que la recomiendo totalmente, tanto si te gustan las historias sobre mundos paralelos o distópicos, como si no, porque estoy segura que te gustará mucho. Gracias por permitirme dejar mi opinión.
