I recently got a movie on Netflix and just knowing what the plot was about caught my attention, however, and although I can't say it was a bad movie at all, I can only tell you that not all that glitters is gold 😄 but let me explain what it's about. >Recientemente conseguí una película en Netflix y con tan solo saber de que se trataba la trama llamó mi atención, sin embargo, y aunque no puedo decir que fue una mala película en lo absoluto, tan solo puedo decirles que no todo lo que brilla es oro 😄 pero déjenme explicarles de qué se trata.
Overview/Resumen
Kanna is a 12-year-old girl who suffers from a profound trauma after losing her mother. This trauma resurfaces every time she runs into a track and field competition at school. Her mother was a runner, and the last memory Kanna has of her is of her running. However, on one occasion, she meets a strange but friendly rabbit who reveals to her that from that moment on, she must travel to all the temples in Japan to collect shisos (a type of offering that parishioners give to the god of each temple), and later, she must deliver those offerings to the gods at their annual Izumo Taisha meeting. This is a venerable task previously held by her mother, but obviously, not everything is ever going to be so easy. From that moment on, Kanna must face her past traumas to try to overcome her loss.
Kanna es una niña de 12 años que tiene un gran trauma tras perder a su madre, este trauma sale a flote cada vez que tiene una competencia de atletismo en su escuela, pues su madre era corredora, y precisamente el último recuerdo que Kanna tiene de ella es corriendo. Sin embargo en una ocasión se topa con un extraño pero simpático conejo quién le revela que a partir de ese momento ella deberá viajar a través de todos los templos de Japón para recolectar los shisos (se refiere a las ofrendas que los feligreses entregan al Dios de cada templo) y posteriormente ella deberá entregar esas ofrendas a los dioses en su reunión anual de Izumo Taisha. Esta es una labor de honor que antes desempeñaba su madre, pero obviamente no todo sería tan fácil, a partir de ese momento Kanna tendrá que enfrentarse a sus traumas del pasado para intentar superar su pérdida.

My Opinion/Mi Opinión
You all know that I like to be as honest as possible in my reviews, and I obviously recognize that my opinion doesn't define the quality of a film, because opinions will vary according to everyone's taste, so the first thing I have to say about this film is that it starts off at a very slow pace, and this pace is maintained for a good part of the film, except for one occasion when Kanna must face the challenge of the dragon god, everything else feels heavy and tedious. I understand that the intention of the film is for us to get to know the main character thoroughly, with all his flaws, that there is something that prevents him from moving forward, but there comes a point where this premise becomes repetitive. >Ya ustedes saben que me gusta ser lo más sincera posible en mis reseñas, y que obviamente reconozco que mi opinión no define la calidad de una película, porque las opiniones variarán de acuerdo al gusto de cada quién, así que lo primero que debo decir respecto a este film es que empieza con un ritmo muy lento, y este ritmo se mantiene durante buena parte de la película, salvo en una ocasión en que Kanna debe afrontar el desafío del dios dragón, todo lo demás se siente pesado y tedioso. Entiendo que la intención de la película es que conozcamos a fondo el personaje principal con todo y sus defectos, que existe algo que le impide avanzar, pero llega un punto en que esta premisa se vuelve repetitiva.
I also understand that Kanna has lost interest in athletics and the desire to run after the death of her mother, but I found it terribly selfish when she, after having accepted the commitment to carry the shizos, simply gives up and leaves her friend Shiro (the rabbit) with the responsibility, stating that the only thing that motivated her was the hope of seeing her mother 😒, I mean, I understand that she is hurt and affected but it is not fair that she used the others, besides if she was going to behave like that, then she should have let Yasha (the oni) carry the Shizos, anyway it was a job that he wanted to do from the beginning 💁.
Entiendo también que Kanna haya perdido el interés en el atletismo y las ganas de correr tras la muerte de su madre, pero me resultó terriblemente egoísta cuando ella, después de haber aceptado el compromiso de llevar los shizos, simplemente renuncia y deja abandonado a su amigo Shiro (el conejo) con la responsabilidad, afirmando que lo único que la motivaba era la esperanza de ver a su madre 😒, osea, entiendo que esté dolida y afectada pero no es justo que haya utilizado a los demás, además si se iba a comportar así, entonces hubiese dejado que Yasha (el oni) hubiese llevado los Shizos, de todos modos era un trabajo que él quería hacer desde un inicio 💁.
However, as positive points I can add several things, for example, the film has an exquisite soundtrack, with a lot of character and an enigmatic aura that matches the mythological elements that we see on screen, and that is another point in its favor, I like it when films incorporate some Japanese folklore and mythology such as festivals, oni, gods, temples and symbolism.
Sin embargo como puntos positivos puedo añadir varias cosas, por ejemplo, la película tiene una banda sonora exquisita, con mucho carácter y un aura enigmática que va a juego con los elementos mitológicos que vemos en pantalla, y ese es otro punto a favor, me gusta cuando las películas incorporan algo del folcklore y mitología japonesa como los festivales, los oni, los dioses, los templos y el simbolismo.
And another point in favor in the middle of the plot that, as I told you, sometimes became dense and repetitive, is that Kanna's journey is an analogy to the personal journey that we all have to go through, in this journey we make a self-discovery that can serve as a catharsis, only by accepting pain and mistakes can we heal, evolve and move forward 😉
Y otro punto a favor en medio de la trama que, como les dije, a veces se volvía densa y repetitiva, es que el viaje de Kanna es una analogía al viaje personal por el que todos tenemos que pasar, en este viaje hacemos un autodescubrimiento que nos puede servir como catarsis, solo aceptando el dolor y los errores podemos sanar, evolucionar y avanzar 😉
And so, without anything else to add on the subject, I can only tell you in conclusion that it wasn't a bad movie, it just had a pace that was too slow for my taste, but it has a good concept and best of all, it leaves encouraging messages about overcoming, resilience and optimism 😃
Y pues, sin nada más que añadir al respecto solo les puedo decir en conclusión que no fue una mala película, simplemente tuvo un ritmo demasiado lento para mi gusto, pero tiene un buen concepto y lo mejor de todo es que deja mensajes alentadores sobre superación, resiliencia y optimismo 😃
