I don't usually watch anime series; I much prefer films, as I've told you on other occasions, because they have a much faster start, development and ending in the plot. So I never imagined I would watch Naruto, which is so long and full of tedious filler episodes. However, I agreed to my sister's request and watched all the seasons of this series, including the filler episodes, and although I didn't feel like watching any other endless series, I certainly can't help but praise the good work they did with this series in every way: in terms of animation, combat, plot and, of course, characters. And that's precisely what brings me here today, as I'd like to talk to you about my favourite character and why I like him so much. >Normalmente no suelo ver series de ánime, prefiero mil veces ver películas, como ya les he dicho a ustedes en otras ocasiones, ya que estas tienen un inicio, desarrollo y cierre mucho más rápido en la trama, así que nunca imaginé ver precisamente Naruto, que es tán larga y llena de tediosos capítulos de relleno, sin embargo accedí a la petición de mi hermana y vi todas las temporadas de esta serie, incluyendo los capítulos rellenos, y aunque no me quedaron ganas de ver ninguna otra serie interminable, desde luego que no puedo dejar de alabar el buen trabajo que hicieron con esta serie en todos los sentidos: en cuanto a la animación, los combates, la trama y desde luego los personajes, y es precisamnete eso lo que me trae hasta aquí hoy, ya que me gustaría hablarles de mi personaje favorito y porqué me gusta tanto.
Itachi Uchiha is one of the most important members of the Uchiha clan, and paradoxically, it was he who exterminated his entire family, which earned him the condemnation of everyone who considered themselves sensible and empathetic, including his own younger brother, Sasuke, who detested him, and with good reason, right? However, throughout the series, we discover the different layers of this complex and interesting character, allowing us to understand his motives. He had a strong sense of duty and certain codes that led him to act in this way, but this does not mean that it was not painful for him. Sometimes, doing the right thing can be a very difficult decision to make, and this was perfectly reflected in the character's melancholic gaze.
Itachi Uchiha es uno de los miembros más importantes del clan Uchiha, y paradogicamente fue él quien exterminó a toda su familia, lo cuál le valió el repudio de todo aquel que se considerase sensato y empático, inclusive su propio hermano menor, Sasuke, lo detestaba y con justa razón ¿no? Sin embargo a lo largo de toda la serie vamos descubriendo las diferentes capas de este personaje tan complejo e interesante, para entender sus motivos. Ël tenía un alto sentido del deber y algunos códigos que precisamente lo llevaron a actuar de esa manera, pero esto no quiere decir que no fuese doloroso para él, a veces, hacer lo correcto puede ser una decisipon muy difícil de tomar, y eso se reflejaba perfectamente en la mirada melancólica del personaje.
And although he may seem like a dull and rigid character, he actually has more nuances than you might think. I think that's precisely what I like about him, because it's inevitable to associate him with Severus Snape from Harry Potter. Both characters act like villains, earn the contempt of others, and have incredible abilities, but in reality they are antiheroes, people who carry on their shoulders a weight that no one else could bear, an eternal melancholy, a shell of indifference that makes them seem gloomy to outsiders, although with a clear and unquestionable goal. But they are not waiting for others to understand them or approve of their actions, no, because for them the end completely justifies the means
Y aunque precisamente puede parecer un personaje gris y cuadrado, en realidad tiene más matices de lo que crees, creo que es precisamente esto lo que me gusta de este personaje, porque es inevitable asociarlo con Severus Snape de Harry Potter, ambos personajes actúan como villanos, se ganan el repudio de los demás, tienen habilidades increíbles, pero en realidad son antihéroes, personas que llevan sobre sus hombros un peso que nadie más podría soportar, una melancolía eterna, una coraza de indiferencia que los vuelve sombríos ante los ojos externos, aunque con un objetivo claro e incuestionable, pero no están esperando que los entiendan o que aprueben sus actos, no, porque para ellos el fin justifica completamente los medios.
Being such an ambiguous and psychologically complex character, Itachi's story makes us question the meaning of justice, sacrifice, and the price of peace. It is not easy to understand him, much less accept his decisions, but when you get to know him deeply, when you get to the bottom of all the layers that cover him, it is inevitable to feel moved and even guilty for the prejudices against him.
Al ser un personaje tan ambiguo y psicologicamente tan complejo, la historia de Itachi hace que nos cuestionemos el sentido de la justicia, el sacrificio y el precio de la paz. No es facil entenderlo y mucho menos aceptar sus decisiones, pero cuando lo conoces a profundidad, cuando llegas al fondo de todas las capas que lo cubren es inevitable sentirse conmovido y hasta culpable por los prejuicios en su contra.
