Today I want to share with you my joy because while I was deep cleaning my room I found a great literary treasure, I am referring to some stories and novels that I kept since my adolescence, these were distributed years ago by the government of my country in public squares and schools with the aim of promoting reading, and despite the fact that they were not printed with hard or soft covers but with a porous paper that can deteriorate over the years, I still appreciate them as any reader would because it is a way to access all those stories. One of them that became my favorite is a story based on true events, I am referring to Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe, >Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi alegría porque mientras limpiaba a fondo mi habitación encontré un gran tesoro literario, me refiero a algunos cuentos y novelas que yo conservaba desde mi adolescencia, estos fueron repartidos hace años por el gobierno de mi país en plazas públicas y escuelas con el objetivo de promover la lectura, y a pesar de que no estaban impresos con tapa dura o blanda sino con un papel poroso que con los años se puede deteriorar, de igual manera lo aprecio como todo lector lo haría porque es una forma de acceder a todas esas historias. Una de ellas que se convirtió en mi favorita se trata de una historia basada en hechos reales, me refiero a Robinson Crusoe de Daniel Defoe,

The book tells the stories of a man who was stranded on an island for 21 years, during which time he had to learn to live with nature and animals, without any communication with the civilization he had known until then, until after a certain time he discovered that he was not alone on that island but that he was living with a tribe of cannibals, he discovered this precisely when he rescued one of them from the siege of their enemies, the boy, grateful, stayed by his side, Robinson called him Friday and taught him his own language, something that made him feel very good because it helped him reconnect with humanity and renewed his hopes after years of isolation.

I love this book madly for several reasons, the first is because it is a biographical story in some way, it is true that instead of 21 years on the island the protagonist of the story in real life (Alexander Selkirk) was only there for four years and four months, but that does not make it less interesting, the author simply resorted to hyperbole, to give more flavor to the story, even so I believe that the main objective of the book is to promote the teachings that Alexander Selkirk had after his experience in the shipwreck, to value the company of others, family and the simple things in life like listening to the human voice, that which we hear daily and do not pay attention to but becomes indispensable when we do not have it.

Another thing I liked about the book is that Robinson showed what he was made of. He didn't sit back patiently waiting to be rescued, he didn't turn to self-pity, but instead set out to use every resource he had for survival, observing his surroundings and learning from them, which gives the reader a dose of energy, optimism, and hope.

Of the entire book, my favorite thing is the encounter with Friday. It's extremely moving, not only the rescue itself, but everything we see afterward, the way both characters (Robinson and Friday) communicate through signs and how Robinson tried to persuade his new friend to abandon cannibalism. From that moment on, we see a symbiotic relationship based on loyalty and mutual gratitude, highlighting values such as camaraderie and teamwork.

I also loved the illustrations, they are beautiful and help make the story much more immersive.
