# An outing to refresh the soul
After such a hot day that seemed to melt even my thoughts, José, my partner, came by looking for me at the Domingo Luciani hospital, there in El Llanito, Petare. I had just left an appointment with the endocrinologist, or rather, I had just tried to have one. Because the truth is, it was one of those experiences that one prefers to leave to tell later, calmly... Although I can already tell you that it did not end very well. But well, that's life: sometimes it smiles at you, sometimes it frowns at you and turns its back on you. The important thing is not to lose heart or the ability to see the good side of things or every situation.
And so, with our spirits half-hearted but eager to change the course of the day, we went for a few cold beers. Four rounds were enough to refresh us inside and out, amidst laughter, pending conversations and that relief that comes from simply being in good company.
There was karaoke on site, and José, who is usually a bit reserved for these things, was encouraged to sing. He didn't let us take many pictures, as if he wanted that moment to be ours alone, without digital witnesses. He just wanted to disconnect a bit, de-stress, and I was exactly in the same tune.
While he sang, I took the opportunity to tell him some anecdotes. We laughed, shared comfortable silences, and reminded each other that, although not everything always goes the way you want it to, it is always possible to find a pause to breathe, laugh and enjoy.
Because in the end, what counts is not only what happens to you, but with whom you decide to live it.

# Una salida para refrescar el alma
Después de un día tan caluroso que parecía derretirme hasta los pensamientos, José, mi pareja, me pasó buscando por el hospital Domingo Luciani, allá en El Llanito, Petare. Yo acababa de salir de una cita con el endocrino, o mejor dicho, de intentar tener una. Porque la verdad, fue una de esas experiencias que uno prefiere dejar para contar después, con calma… Aunque ya les adelanto que no terminó muy bien. Pero bueno, así es la vida: a veces te sonríe, otras te frunce el ceño y da la espalda. Lo importante es no perder el ánimo ni la capacidad de ver el lado bueno de las cosas o cada situación.
Y así, con el ánimo a medias pero con ganas de cambiar el rumbo del día, nos fuimos a tomarnos unas cervezas bien frías. Cuatro rondas nos bastaron para refrescarnos por dentro y por fuera, entre risas, conversaciones pendientes y ese alivio que da simplemente estar en buena compañía.
Había karaoke en el sitio, y José, que suele ser algo reservado para estas cosas, se animó a cantar. No se dejó tomar muchas fotos, como si quisiera que ese momento fuera solo nuestro, sin testigos digitales. Solo quería desconectarse un poco, desestresarse, y yo estaba exactamente en la misma sintonía.
Mientras él cantaba, yo aproveché para contarle algunas anécdotas. Nos reímos, compartimos silencios cómodos, y nos recordamos mutuamente que, aunque no todo siempre sale como uno quiere, siempre es posible encontrar una pausa para respirar, reírse y disfrutar.
Porque al final, lo que cuenta no es solo lo que te pasa, sino con quién decides vivirlo.
