Una de las ventajas de vivir cerca del mar, es que no necesitas mucha planificación para disfrutar de él, aunque la gran mayoría de los que están ahí no lo aprovechan. Lo mismo pasa en otras circunstancias, cuando por la cercanía pensamos que siempre podremos ir, y ese momento lo posponemos día a día.
Este es también el caso, de las personas cercanas al balneario de Quilmes, quienes solo lo visitan los fines de semana, abarrotando los espacios entre mantas en la grama, niños que aprovechan las zonas de juego y alguno que otro vendedor ambulante que se acomoda en alguna esquina. Aunque durante la época de verano es otra cosa, ya que es el escape de quienes estando de vacaciones no alcanzan cubrirse un viaje a la costa.
Pero los días de semana, el ritmo del lugar es otro, más tranquilo, con muchas personas mayores apostadas en el muelle y la bahía, armadas con sus cañas, carnadas, algunas llevan una silla cómoda, el termo y galletitas, y las ganas de pasar el rato y disfrutar de la pesca y de la tranquilidad.
Estar ahí es como llegar a un oasis en medio del caos, se respira una tranquilidad deliciosa, sin moverse tan lejos de casa, a tal punto que no es ni siquiera necesario ir a pescar para pasarlo bien.
Muchos de ellos se conocen, por ser visitantes asiduos, e inclusive comparten vivencias, carnadas y por qué no, un buen trozo de pizza cuando ya la tarde cae, puesto que es un lugar que está abierto al público, y en el caso de los que pagan la membresía, quedan en un espacio resguardado, aunque dudo que alguien se atreva a hacerles algo.
Quizás no sea algo elegante, pero honestamente poder estar ahí sin necesidad de consumir nada, dejándole al viento las preocupaciones y los pensamientos erróneos, es un privilegio que no compra un lugar caro. Además, agudizando un poco la visión, podemos ser testigos de las travesuras de los pájaros que andan al acecho, esperando que algún pescador lance los residuos de los peces luego de lavarlos y descamarlos. Acá todo pareciera ser una relación ganar-ganar.
Del lado de la bahía, se apuestan los pescadores más jóvenes y osados, ya que las piedras ubicadas ahí se mueven y son resbaladizas, así que el peligro de caerse está latente. Lo bueno es que en cada espacio llegan peces distintos; mientras en el muelle esperaban por el pejerrey, del lado de la bahía salían bagres, así que no hay competencia, ya que la naturaleza los premia a todos, siempre y cuando tengan la paciencia de esperar.
Cuentan los pescadores que en algunos casos, se van sin peces, pero no con las manos vacías, ya que el solo hecho de estar ahí les deja una ganancia enorme en salud mental y terapia anti-stress, y debo decir que realmente es así, pues en esta visita mi intención nunca fue pescar, pero no regresé siendo la misma que entró en ese lugar, ya que logré hacerme de una buena porción de calma y una grata experiencia viendo la vida de estas personas, quienes disfrutan de lo simple, y eso los hace inmensamente felices.

But on weekdays, the pace of the place is different, more peaceful, with many elderly people stationed on the pier and in the bay, armed with their rods and bait. Some bring a comfortable chair, a thermos, and cookies, and the desire to pass the time and enjoy fishing and tranquility.
Being there is like arriving at an oasis in the midst of chaos. You breathe in a delicious tranquility, without moving too far from home, to such an extent that you don't even need to go fishing to have a good time.
Many of them know each other, as they are regular visitors, and even share experiences, bait, and, why not, a nice slice of pizza when the afternoon comes to an end, since it is a place that is open to the public. Those who pay for membership stay in a protected area, although I doubt anyone would dare to do anything to them.
It may not be elegant, but honestly, being able to be there without having to consume anything, leaving your worries and negative thoughts behind, is a privilege that no expensive place can buy. In addition, if we sharpen our vision a little, we can witness the antics of the birds that lie in wait, hoping that a fisherman will throw away the fish scraps after washing and scaling them. Here, everything seems to be a win-win situation.
On the bay side, the younger and more daring fishermen gather, as the rocks there are loose and slippery, so there is a constant danger of falling. The good thing is that different fish arrive in each area; while they waited for silverside on the pier, catfish came out on the bay side, so there is no competition, as nature rewards them all, as long as they have the patience to wait.
Fishermen say that in some cases, they leave without fish, but not empty-handed, since just being there gives them enormous mental health benefits and anti-stress therapy, and I must say that this is really true. because on this visit, my intention was never to fish, but I did not return the same person who entered that place, as I managed to gain a good dose of calm and a pleasant experience seeing the lives of these people, who enjoy the simple things, and that makes them immensely happy.
