It's already Wednesday again, time flies these days! I only have one week to go, soon I'll be far away from the cold and darkness here in Sweden.
Last week I drove to the closest city, Karlstad, I had an appointment at the hairdresser and I needed to run some errands. All in preparation for my departure 🙂
It was a cold day, like -3 degrees Celsius (I have gotten used to the minus degrees by now).
Since I would be in the city for more or less the whole day (the hairdresser takes 3 hours) I decided to park the car a bit outside of the city center, where there was free parking. I thought that instead of spending money on parking I could treat myself to a nice lunch.
There's a rather big parking lot outside of Karlstad City Park, about a 20-minute walk from the city center. They actually also have parking for campers (popular in summer).
In the picture below you can see the city center in the background. It's mostly a walk along the water.
The marina reminded me a bit about Stockholm. And just like Stockholm, there's a lot of water in Karlstad. It's built on the river delta where Sweden’s longest river, Klarälven, runs into the lake Vänern, the biggest lake in Europe.
Here I turned around to take a picture. It's barely visible in the pictures but it was actually snowing a bit.
Once I reached the city center I didn't really take any pictures. I got so busy with my to-do list. It's always nice to go to my hairdresser though. She was so excited to hear about my travel plans. And I managed to find everything I had written down on my list.
Below is a picture of the train station. It's kind of the only place I usually see in this city. (Usually arriving from Stockholm). I rarely visit Karlstad, it's a strange feeling to walk the streets there. It's familiar to me, I went to high school there and I also lived there on my own in high school (since I grew up in the countryside it was a bit too far to commute). But nowadays I don't have any connection to the place. And of course, to me, it feels very small. It would feel so foreign to live there (again).
On my way back to the car.
Here you can see the parking lot in the background.
I had in mind to post about this short walk so I took some 'extra' pictures just outside of the parking lot.
I think I have everything I need for my travels now. I don't think I need to visit Karlstad again before I leave. Of course, I also order a lot of stuff, which is very convenient when you live in the countryside. But I don't think I need to order anything more either, it's time to start packing and moving out of the house!
Thanks for reading 🌸
Wishing you a lovely day 💚
