I'm back on this community to review and recommend one of my favorite YouTube channels, Raquel de la Morena, a Spanish journalist and writer whose channel tells various stories that pique our curiosity, learning about the past and other interesting topics. I'll tell you more about her and her work in this post ✨

He vuelto a esta comunidad para opinar y recomendar uno de mis canales favoritos de YouTube, Raquel de la Morena, una periodista y escritora española que en su canal narra diversas historias que hacen despertar nuestra curiosidad, aprendiendo sobre el pasado y demás temas interesantes. Te comentaré más sobre ella y su trabajo en este post ✨

Raquel always says this on her channel as a greeting, but the truth is that it sums up the general theme of her videos very well; she usually says: "welcome, curious minds", and that's truly what her channel is all about, curiosity. Raquel, along with her collaborator and colleague Pedro Estrada, tells us historical facts that we may already know roughly speaking, but she adds less known and curious details that enrich the story much more, allowing us to have a much broader knowledge. She also tells us literary curiosities, biographies of historical figures, legends and mysteries of different origins that truly leave you intrigued. As well as demystifying many stories that for many years were poorly told.

Raquel en su canal lo dice siempre a modo de saludo, pero la verdad es que resume muy bien la temática general de sus vídeos; suele decir: «bienvenidas, mentes curiosas», y es que verdaderamente de eso va su canal, de curiosidad. Raquel, en conjunto con su colaborador y colega Pedro Estrada, nos narra hechos históricos que quizás ya conocemos a grosso modo, pero les agrega detalles curiosos que enriquecen mucho más la historia, pudiendo tener un conocimiento mucho más amplio. También nos cuenta curiosidades literarias, biografías de personajes históricos, leyendas y misterios de distintos orígenes que verdaderamente te dejan intrigado. Así como también llega a desmitificar muchas historias que por muchos años fueron mal contadas.

This channel isn't just storytelling, it's journalism. Listening to at least one video reveals the incredibly thorough research the team does to put it all together. They don't just throw out facts for the sake of it, but rather tell you exactly who said what, how, and when, and explain every detail of each element involved in the story. Furthermore, they narrate their stories in the most impartial way possible, simply explaining the facts and avoiding expressing their own opinions. They focus on what's verifiable, on what's recorded, or, in any case, they only present aspects of a debate without getting involved, which allows the viewer to understand the story and then interpret it as they please. As a bonus, Raquel's narration is very good, with a soothing voice that also denotes the emotion of telling a story, as her passion for what she does is evident, and perhaps that's the channel's selling point.

Este canal no es solo narración, sino periodismo. Al escuchar al menos un vídeo notas la increíblemente exhaustiva investigación que el equipo realiza para poder armarlo todo. No lanzan datos solo porque sí, sino que te dicen exactamente quiénes, cómo y cuándo lo dijeron, así como explican cada detalle de cada elemento involucrado en la historia. Además, lo narran de la forma más imparcial posible, simplemente explicando los hechos evitando mencionar una opinión propia. Se enfocan en lo comprobable, en lo que está registrado o en todo caso, solo exponen los aspectos de un debate sin involucrarse, cosa que le permite al espectador conocer la historia y ya cada quien la interpreta como la entienda. Como extra, la narración de Raquel es muy buena, con una voz dulce pero que denota la emoción de contarte una historia, pues su pasión por lo que hace resulta evidente y quizás ese sea el gancho del canal.

You know those weird questions that sometimes come to mind? Like who invented chocolate, what is the origin of Christmas, who the Antichrist really is, or if there really was a civilization before humanity... All those questions and many more are answered on this channel. Here, I believe you can find information that goes far beyond what you're usually taught, explained in a didactic and very simple way that anyone could truly understand. For me, videos are a great learning strategy because when they're done this way—as a passionate narrative rather than a flat presentation—in a relatively short time and focused on what's important, they allow you to truly engage with the topics rather than forcing you to pay attention.

¿Sabes esas preguntas curiosas que a veces nos vienen a la mente? Como quién inventó el chocolate, cuál es el origen de la navidad, quién es realmente el anticristo o si realmente hubo una civilización antes de la humana... Todas esas preguntas y muchas más las responden en este canal. Aquí creo que puedes encontrar información que va mucho más allá de lo que te enseñan, explicada de una forma didáctica y muy sencilla que realmente cualquier persona podría entender. Para mí, los vídeos son una gran estrategia de aprendizaje puesto que cuando se hacen de esta forma, como una narración apasionada más que una exposición plana, en relativamente corto tiempo y enfocados en lo importante, te permiten verdaderamente interesarte por los temas más que obligarte a prestar atención.

I think these types of outreach channels should have much more visibility than they do; in fact, they should be more famous than many others. Perhaps because this type of historical content is often thought of as tedious and boring, people don't really check out videos like these. However, there are so many creators like Raquel and Pedro who really strive to make it entertaining that it's well worth giving channels like this a chance.

Considero que este tipo de canales de divulgación deberían tener muchísima más visibilidad de la que tienen, de hecho, deberían ser más famosos que muchos otros. Puede ser que como usualmente se cree que este tipo de contenido histórico es tedioso, muy aburrido, entonces las personas no revisan realmente videos como estos. Sin embargo, hay tantos creadores como Raquel y Pedro que realmente se esfuerzan por hacerlo entretenido que vale mucho la pena darles una oportunidad a canales como éste.
