We had a family picnic on the burnt hill above town. A month from the worst flames, the grassy growth and shrubbery are barely starting to recover, and that only partially.
Still, green plants are an amazing force.
It was a rocky and dry place, anyway, but the species variety was quite great, and I do remember sharing some surprisingly exotic findings last spring.
We'll see if they all return within a year from now...
The trend is quite depressing. We only had one major fire in the area last year. There is a lot more this time around. And the municipality next door is burning right now, covering our town in smoke in the mornings, albeit coming from a distance. About 20 kilometers away.
